A. was held in the school house last Wednesday eve ning. After a short business meet ing, different members discussed their summer vacations and a com munity sing was enjoyed. Refresh ments of cookies, coffee and punch were served. Guests at the Carl Whillock home are his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack McEachern of The Dalles. George Tucker spent the week end in Portland and vicinity visiting rel atives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Burton and children spent the week end in Portland. W. J. Smith of Portland was a business visitor here Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Scott and family are moving to Wasco to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Hill and fam ily are visiting in Heppner from Redmond. Clarence Hayes and daughter of Corvallis are visiting here. Gus McMillan has returned home from Portland. The grange program will be pro vided by the H. E. club on October 11, and the public is cordially in vited to attend. The program com mittee is anxious to have all the ladies of the H. Once again death hath summoned a Sister Rebekah, and the golden gateway to the Eternal City has opened to welcome her to her home. She has completed her work in the ministering to the wants of the afflicted, in shedding light into darkened souls and in bringing joy' into the places of misery, and as her reward she has received the plaudit "Well done" from the Supreme Master. And whereas, the merciful Mas ter has called our beloved Sister home, Be it therefore, resolved, that Sans Souci Rebekah Lodge No. 33, of Heppner, Oregon, drape its charter in mourning for thirty days, and that we tender the family of our de ceased sister our sincere condolence in their deep affliction, and that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family. Etta Howell, Ella Benge, Mar garet Phelps, Committee. FORMER RESIDENT VISITS Mrs. A. R. Frazier, the former Willa Herren who lived at Heppner as a girl, and brother-in-law, K. W. Withers of San Francisco, husband of the former Eva Herren, were vis iting in the city Sunday. They drove from Portland, where Mrs. Frazier resides and visited with Mrs. Fraz ier's aunt, Mrs. Lulu G. Rumble. Mrs. Dave Herren, Morrow county pioneer, now 75 years of age, resides at the Withers home in Belmont, Cal. Mrs. Frazier and Mr. Withers were interested in looking over property interests in the Ditch creek section, scene of many girlhood romances of Mrs. Frazier.
