Queens and princesses of the
Heppner Rodeo, the Pendleton
Round-Up and the queen of the
Grant County fair were honor
guests at a luncheon at the home of
Mrs. Ed Dick following the parade
Saturday. Hostesses for the lunch
eon were Mrs. R. A. Thompson, Mrs.
Ed Dick, Mrs. Roy Robinson, Mrs.
Frank Wilkinson, Mrs. Anna Bay
less, Mrs. Ella Davidson, Mrs. Ed
Dick, Jr. and Mrs. Harlan McCurdy.
Mrs. Lee Beckner presented the
chickens for the affair. Guests in
cluded Queen Kathryn Thompcon
and Princesses Colleen Kilkenny,
Frances Wilkinson, Rita Robinson
and Patty Emert of the Heppner

kenny, Queen Maxine McCurdy of
the Pendleton Round-Up, Queen
Jane Officer of the Grant County
fair, Mrs. Garnet Barratt and Mrs.
Orville Smith.
A family reunion was held at the
home of Mrs. Neva Le Trace Sun
day. Children present were Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Le Trace of Missoula, Moi t.,
Bill Le Trace of Los Angeles, Cal
Mrs. Bob Lowe and family, Mrs.
Orin Wright and family and Mr. and
Mrs. Louis LeTrace and daughter , t

Miss Maxine McCurdy was com
plimented with a birthday tea Wed
nesday afternoon in obsenrance of
her 21st birthday. Fall flowers form
ed the decoration motif for the in
formal reception which was held at
the home of Mrs. Ed Dick. Assist.
ant hostesses were Mrs. Kenneth
Blake, Mrs. Alva Jones and Mrs.
Dave Wilson. About 60 guests at

STEWART-VAN SCHOIACK
A summer wedding of interest to
fHends here was performed Sunday,
August 10, when Miss Allene Stew
art, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. i
Stewart of Portland became the
bride of Cecil Van Schoiack, son of
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Van Schoiack, in
Portland at the Central Christian
church. Andrew Van Schoiack was
best man and Miss Harriet Stewart,1
sister of the bride, was bridesmaid.1
'rhe bride was attractive in a white
wedding gown with a bouquet of
sweet peas and lilies of the valley.
A reception was held at the horn ,
of the bride's parents following the
3 o'clock ceremony. Mr. and Mn.
C. H. Van Schoiack and Bobby zatd
Sidney attended from here. The
young couple will make their home
in Heppner at present.
"The History of Opera" will fofm
the study theme for the Heppner
Music club for the coming year, it
was decided at a meeting of the
program committee Tuesday after-1
noon at the home of Mrs. Elizaneth
Blankenship. Several outstanding
operas were chosen to study during;
the year. Committee members pre
sent were Mrs: Blankenship, Mrs.
Virginia Turner, Miss Rose Leio
brand and Mrs. Margaret Blake. The
first meeting of the season will be
held September 2 at the home of
Mrs. Blankenship.

Mrs. Ray Michener was compli
mented with a farewell bricle:e lun
cheon and handkerchief shower at
the home of Mrs. Conley Lanham
Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Frank Gen
try and Mrs. Paul Jones were as
sistant hostesses. High score was
held by Mrs. Harold Buhrnan and
second high by Mrs. Lanham. Other I
guests were Mrs. Claude Graham, i
Mrs. Merle Cummings and Mrs. Tom I
Wilson.
