ATTEND OFFICERS MEET
Sheriff C. J. D. Bauman and Pat
Mollahan, city policeman, returned
home this morning from Portland
where they attended the convention
of Pacific Coast International Asso
ciation of Law Enforcement Offi
cers. Sheriff Bauman said an in
teresting feature was the address of
the newly elected president, a Mex
ican who spoke in Spanish, with
an interpreter translating into Eng
lish. When the new president spoke
the Mexican delegates applauded
and the remainder looked dumb, and
when the interpreter translated the
others applauded while the Mexi
cans looked dumb. A replica of an
English air raid, given for instruc
tion in civilian defense at the eve
nng show at Multnomah stadium,
proved mighty exciting, Bauman
said.
