Page Eight Heppner Gazette Times, Heppner, Oregon Thursday, July 10, 1941 SOCIETY CHIT-CHAT By JUNE SMITH Heppner should be proud of Mrs. Jack Halseth, who last week end at Cottage Grove won the all-round women's archery championship for the state of Oregon. This is the first time the honor has ever gone to the eastern part of the state, and Mrs. Halseth is the proud possessor for the next year of a beautiful trophy signifying her skill. She also fired six consecutive arrows into the gold ring of the target, which makes her automatically a member of the National Six Golds club, and she will receive a gold pin award from the National Archery association This is a feat accomplished by few archers. Mrs. Halseth won every event in which she participated, as follows: Women's double Columbia, women's championship, women's national round. She was unable to compete in the last several events, as the tournament was most unfortunately located in a field of poison oak, which poisoned both Mr. and Mrs. Halstth so badly they were unable to shoot. It will also keep Mrs. Hal seth home from the Pacific North west tournament to be held this week end in Seattle. She plans, however, to take part in the nation al championship tournament to de termine the best in the country, to be held in August at Reed's col lege. liHitiinnuHHiHiHmniitiiHimiiiH" At Heppner CHURCHES I METHODIST CHURCH Sunday school at 9:45.
