Many lone Folk Take
Trips in Week

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Schoolcraft
and daughter of Casper, Wyo., ar
rived Sunday for a visit with Mrs.
Schoolcraft's parents. Mr. and Mrs.
Emil Carlson.
Mrs. M. Blackwell is spending
some time at the home of her daugh
ter, Mrs. D. R. Long.
Lawrence Davidson and wife of
Toledo are guests of Mr. Davidson's
mother, Mrs. Mabel Davidson of
Morgan.
Mrs. J. W. Schleevoight, who has
been a patient in the Heppner hos
pital, returned to her home near
Morgan Saturday.
Mrs. W. J. Blake has returned
home after spending a week in
Heppner at the home of her son,
Keneth, while receiving medical
treatment.
E. J. Bristow returned Thursday
after a week's stay in Nampa, Idaho,
at the home of his son, Edmond
Bristow. Mary Jean and Donald
Bristow came . home with their
grandfather, and will spend the
summer here.
Eugene Newlin of Seattle and his
sisters, Mrs. J. P. McNamee and
daughter Mary, of Seattle, and Mrs.
J. J. Davin of Portland returned to
their homes Sunday after visiting
their mother, Mrs. Clara Newlin
here. Mrs. Davin's daughter, Shar
on, remained here.
Mrs. Erret Hummel went to La
Grande the last of the week to at
tend the graduation of her brother
from high school. Her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. F. Gallagher, accom
panied her home. Mr. HummeFs
mother, Mrs. Blanche Hummel, is
also a guest at the Hummel home.
She taught in the school at Park-

Walla Walla visited here Sunday and
Monday at the home of Mr. Wade's
sister, Mrs. E. J. Bristow.

ployed at the Douglas aircraft plant.
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Troedson and
Mr. and Mrs. Foster Odom and
family made a sight-seeing trip into
Washington Sunday. They visited
friends at Sunnyside, and at Prosser
visited the Chester Hutchcroft fam
ily, former residents of Morgan.
Mrs. Lana Padberg is in Portland
receiving medical attention.
Mrs. Leslie Roundy, who has been
here visiting relatives has gone to
her new home at Arlington.
Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Palmate er and
daughters Doris and Laurel left
Morgan Saturday to spend some
time visiting in Estacada at the
home of Mrs. Palmateer's brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Hen
ry Beers. Their son Ted will join
them there at the close of school.
He is a student at O. S. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Wate Crawford and
family drove to Portland Tuesday
to attend the graduation on Wed
nesday of their daughter Ruth from
Marylhurst college.

The Dalles spent the week end here
with Mr. Peterson's . mothei , Mrs.
Ida Peterson, and Mrs. Peerson's
mother, Mrs. Margaret Rietman':
When they returned their little
niece, Ruby Anne Rietmann, ac companied
them for a few days'
visit. Her mother, Mrs. Victor
Rietmann brought her home on

land where the little girl will re
ceive treatment.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker tn joyed
a visit this week from Mrs Baker's
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Hoover of Pullman, Wash
Rose Marie and Billie Gorger,
children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Gorger, have returned home, fol
lowing the close of their school in
Pendleton.

66th birthday Sunday at his home
with many friends and relatives.

of Lena made a business trip to
Monument Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Bartholomew
left Sunday afternoon for Spokane
where Mr. Bartholomew has his
sheep.
Mr. and Mrs. Clay De Board and
son Phillip attended the show in
Hermiston Saturday evening.
Mrs. Burton Barnes is staying
with the Wattenburger children
while Mr. and Mrs. ' Wattenburger
are in Portland.
Haying operations are halted on
the creek this week because of rain.
E. B, Wattenburger returned home
from Portland Monday evening.
SUMMER SCHOOL INTERESTS
Oregon State College Advance
inquiries indicate a summer session
at least equal to last year's, reports
Dr. M. Ellwood Smith, director. The
opening six weeks', sessions starts
June 23, which will be followed by
a second session on August 1, with
all work closing August 30. Special
events this year will include a three
week course for Smith-Hughes tea
chers of agriculture and the athletic
coaching school which is given by
Oregon State every second year.
