city Tuesday for funeral services
for the late Robert A. Thompson
were Dr. and Mrs. F. E. Farrior,
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore, Mr. and
Mrs. Lynn Caton, Judge C. L. Sweek,
Walter Holt, Mac Hoke, Mr. and
Mrs. Nat Kimball, Mr. and Mrs.
George Hyatt.
W. S. Bennett, Smith-Hughes ag
riculture instructor in the local
schools for the last four years, de
parted Sunday for Medford where
he goes to take a position with the
Farm Security administration. Mrs.
Bennett and Billy will remain here
for the time being.
Out nf town visitors registered at
Hotel Heppner yesterday included
J. M. Clifford and wiie ot urvains,
Mr. Clifford being with Oregon State
college; Gilbert Dickson of Pomeroy,
Wash., owner of Dickson's Variety
stor; and John O'Conner of Klam
ath Falls.
Mrs. Bonita Crumrine. daughter
of Cyrus Aiken, and her daughter,
Lillie Bette, from Los Angeles are
guests for the week at the home of.
Mrs. Lillie Aiken. They expect to
go on to Portland for a visit with
other relatives before returning to
the southern home.
Mrs. Agnes Curran, Mrs. Ruth
Colleary and Mrs. Frank Turner
made a business trip to lone on ru-
esday evening.
Garnet Barratt returned home
Saturday from Browning. Mont.,
where he had attended to business
interests for several days.

C. A. Minor, for many years a
business associate of the late R. A.
Thompson, was in the city Tuesday
for the funeral rites from his home
at Mt. Vernon. His son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Brady,
accompanied him.
Mrs. A. D. McMurdo, Mrs. Glenn
Jones, Mrs. W. H. Cleveland and
Mrs Frank Turner motored to Pen
dleton yesterday to attend the grad
uation exercises of St. Joseph aca
demy. Miss Mary Moore, formerly
of Heppner, was a graduate.
Mrs. Louis Morris of John Day
acompanied C. A. Minor and Mr.
and Mrs. Phil Brady to Heppner
Tuesday for the R. A. Thompsoi
funeral and while here visited her
two sisters, Mrs. Frank Turner and
Mfs. Anna Bayless.
Clyde Bellows, meat cutter at the
Safeway store, returned home the
end of the week from a week's va
cation trip on which he visited his
former home at Walla Walla, Spo
kane, Nelson, B. C, and Seattle.
Mr. and Mrs. Tim Rippee were
Saturday visitors from their home
on the Boardman project, and Mr.
Rippee reported general prospects
there bright in every respect.
Mr. and Mrs. James Hill of Pen
dleton were among out of town
people in the city Tuesday for fun
eral services for the late Robert A.
Thompson.

Dean Sprinkel, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Lee Sprinkel, arrived last night
for a visit with his parents. Dean
is employed at the Boeing Aircraft
plant in Seattle and will leave Sun
day for that city.
Irve Williams, manager Northwest
Production Credit association at
Portland, was in the city Tuesday
to attend last rites for his long-time
friend, the late Robert A. Thompson.
Mrs. Erling Thoen and three chil
dren departed this week for Boise,
Idaho, to join Mr Thoen who is sta
tioned with the Soil Conservation
service at that place.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Acklen of
Madras were Heppner visitors Sat
urday. Mr. Acklen, who taught at
Lexington last year, has a position
with the Madras schools this year.
