MISSION SOCIETY MEETS
The Womens Missionary society of
the Christian church met at the
home of Mrs. R. B. Ferguson on
Wednesday. The devotional service
was led by Mrs. Ealor Huston, sub
ject, "I Will Build My Church." Mr,
Lee Scrivner recited a poem, "Nan-
tong, by Evelan Clark. Gertrude
Parker read "50 boxes of Christian
love arrived at Hafei," and Etta Ho
well gave a book review on "Mac
klin of Nanking" by Edith Eberle
The meeting closed with benediction
and refreshments of cake and coffee
were served by the hostesses. Vir
ginia Turner and Coramae Ferguson.

MISS GRIFFITH IN RECITAL
Oregon College of Education,
Monmouth. Katherine Griffith,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Griffith of Morgan, was presented in
a student recital by Mrs. Florence
Coardy Merriam, Tuesday, Feb. 25,
at Campbell hall of the Oregon Col
lege of Education. A very enjoy
able program was given and was
well received by the audience. Miss
Griffith is a student of piano and
played "Pastorale" by Burgmuller.
EMERSON KEITIILEY PASSES
Word was received by Morrow
county relatives last week end of the
passing of Emerson Keithley, for
mer Heppner resident, at his home
in California.
E. J. Buckler of Portland, repre
sentative of the Bonneville Power
administration, was in Heppner yesterday.
Mrs. Earle Bryant received high
score and Mrs. George Burroughs
second at the meeting of their bridge
club last Thursday at Mrs. Oral
Wrighfs home, with Mrs. Cornett
Green assisting the hostess.
Mrs. Chester Kennedy of Gate
way, president of the Women's Ser
vice league, will appear here at the
Parish House, Saturday at 8 r. m.
She will show moving pictures of
the general convention at Kansas
City, and everyone is welcome to
attend.
Honoring Mrs. Robert Knox, Mrs.
Gene Ferguson, Mrs. Garnet Bar
ratt and Mrs. Steve Thompson held
a party Monday evening at the

bles were in play. Mrs Harold Buh
man won high score, Mrs. L. E. Dick
second, and Mrs. Knox low. Spring
flowers were used in the decora
tions, and refreshments were served
at the close of play.

tained the Wednesday club at her
home yesterday with a dessert
bridge. Mrs. Garnet Barratt won
high score and Mrs. Steve Thomp
son second,
Kindergarten for young children
of five and six has been started by
Mrs. Norbert Peavy. The classes
will be held Tuesday and Thursday
mornings from 9 to 11 at her home.
