By DR. WM. C. STRAM, O. D.
Well, we've just lived through one
of the most exciting years that ever
placed its brand on this frantic
earth. The Nazis overran Europe
like soft butter on toast, but were
held for no gain by the waters of
the English Channel. Churchill came
up, Mussolini went down; Wendell
Willkie and F. D. R. put on the
most exciting political duel of mod
ern times. Draft, taxes, the Greeks,
King Carol, airplanes, Chamberlain,,
the Finns, the Duke of Windsor,
Japan, propaganda, Coventry, the
Dies Committee, Fifth Columnists,
Laval, John L. Lewis, "Gone Vith
the Wind," King Leopold, Charlie
Chaplin, the Burma Road, , James
Cromwell, Secretary Hull, the Cin
cinnati Reds, Marshal Petain, Sea
biscuit all made headlines. And
aspirin became a vital part of the
national diet.
In Heppner, the new postoffice
gave everyone a different destina
tion each morning when going af
ter the mail, and plenty to talk
about while waiting for it, at least
until the new wears off.
With the opening of a new school
term, why not make sure your chil
dren are not going to suffer the pen
alties of poor vision during the
coming months? Heavy school work,
intense studying with weak eyes
often cause headaches, tiredness,
lack of vitality. For a thorough eye
examination without charge, see Dr.
Wm. C. Stram, O. D., 22 years ex
perience. Satisfaction guaranteed.
