Thursday, December 5, 1940 Corvallis Girl is Sixth National 4-H Club Champ For the sixth time in 14 years, an Oregon 4-H club boy or girl has been selected to receive the Moses leadership trophy, emblematic of the highest achievement in 4-H club work in the United States. The winner of the girls' trophy, just an nounced at the National 4-H club congress, is Geraldine deLancey of Corvallis. ' In addition to the tro phy awarded by H. A. Moses, she received a $300 scholarship present ed by Edward Foss Wilson at the annual banquet of the club confer ence December 4. Two Moses trophies per year are awarded one to the outstanding girl in club work in the hation. The first Oregon boy to win this distinc tion was Alex Cruikshank of Mc Minnville in 1927. Since that time the honor has been won by Edgar Grimes, Harrisburg (now comman dant at Camp Heppner, CCC) 1928; Lois Bailey, Eugene, 1929; Clayton Fox, Imbler, 1936, and Helen Mi chael, Eugene, 1937. Miss deLancey has been in club work eight years and has been a Heppner Gazette Times, Heppner, Oregon Len Gilman's Record at Pacific Earns Place in American College 'Who's Who' Len Gilman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gilman, who will receive his B.S. degree from Pacific University in June, is among the students who will be listed in the 1939-40 issue of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." The book will be released in Jan uary or February. This publication is published thru the cooperation of over 500 Amer ican universities and colleges. Her club projects have included work in clothing, homemaking, room im provement, cooking, canning, rose and flower gardens, health, and camp cookery. In club contest s she has won 57 first places, 15 seconds, and nine thirds. Five other Oregon club members also won regional or national aw ards which entitled them to trips to the club congress in Chicago, and $200 scholarships for four of them. These additional winners follow: Robert Zielinski, Salem, one of three national winners in the meat animal livestock contest; Mary Fil liger, Astoria, one of six national winners in the girls' record contest; Dorothy Brusch, Canby, one of six national winners in the food prepar ation contest; Mildred Maasen, Port land, one of five national winners in the canning achievement contest, and Gordon C.
