Hardman Building
Moved to Heppner

Irl Clary and Jim Brannon of
Heppner came out and tore down
the Brannon garage this week to
move it to Heppner. The garage
was the old Bill Ingram house and
" was one of the first buildings to be
built in Hardman.
Frank McDaniel is building a new
engine house at the C. H. McDaniel
home.
W. A. Ross, who is the Kinzua
timber cruiser, has been boarding
at the Neal Knighten home while
cruising timber on Rock creek and
Chapin creek that belongs to Kin
zua.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Adams and
Betty and Nancy went to Pendleton
Monday on business.
Mrs. Owen Leathers was appoint
ed the Red Cross worker for the
Hardman community.
Lewis McDonald, who suffered a
back injury some time ago, went to
Pendleton the first of the week to
consult a doctor there. He has been
absent from school about two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Vester Hams moved
to Zornes' camp at Arbuckle this
week, where he will cut logs.
Oral Scott and Herman Clemmer
were Sunday visitors at the Sabin
Hastings home.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rodgers
from Eightmile visited relatives and
at the B. H. Bleakman home here
Friday evening.
Orin McDaniel was in town Sat
urdav from the mountains.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lovgren and
children and Mrs. Clarence Rodgers
of Eightmile visited in town Sun
day.
Guy Chapin left Thursday for the
Harry French ranch to take care of
things, as Mr. French is at the Ritter
hot springs doctoring. He was im
proving when word was received
here. Mr. French has been gone
about two weeks. Mr. Chapin re
turned to town Monday.
Linda Leigh, the infant daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon McFerrin,
has been very sick. Mrs. McFerrin
had her in Heppner where she had
the doctor to see her. Mrs. Austin
Devin and Everett Iler have driven
the school children in since Mrs.
McFerrin has been gone.
While on her way to school one
morning this week, Miss Yvonne
Hastings slipped on the ice and
painfully injured her wrist. She has
had to wear her arm in a sling and
couldn't do any school work she
had to write.
The three children of Mr. and Mrs.
Max Buschke have been sick this
week, and had to miss school. Carol
and Joyce returned the last of the
week, but Delmar was not able to
go.
Earl Redding moved his family
to the Arbuckle camp where he is
working, on Thursday of this week.
Mrs. Dallas McDaniel visited .this
week at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Dan Way, in Lexington.
She returned to Hardman Sunday.

John Voile delivered a load of
dressed turkeys to the Chisholm feed
store buyers in Hermiston Monday.
Mrs. Goldie Leathers from La
Grande is visiting her daughter, Mrs.
Ladd Sherman and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Harder and
children, Marvin Lee and Shirley,
were dinner guests of their aunt,
Mrs. W. C. Isom and family, Sun
day. They were en route to South
Dakota for an extended visit with
Dalles visiting his wife, who is very
ill in the sanitarium there.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harwood
and Mrs. Eva Warner were trans
acting business in Heppner Satur
day. The Boardman high school bas
ketball team defeated the Stanfield
five, 32-23, in a non-league game on
the local floor last Tuesday night.
On Friday Boardman was again vic
torious over Stanfield there in a
close and exciting game with a
score of 27-25. The winning points
for Boardman were made with less
than thirty seconds to play. The
Boardman grade school team won
both games from Stanfield, too.
Mrs. M. E. Nyrot of Elgin, Neb.,
arrived Friday for a few days' visit
at the Jess Allen home. Mrs. Nyrot
is Mrs. Allen's sister. She left for
her home Tuesday.

Mrs. Tom Caldwell visited Mrs. Do
ra Moore at Echo Saturday.
Rev. and Mrs. Harness are the
proud parents of an 8 pound boy
born at the Pendleton hosital Tues
day, Nov. 26. Rev. Mr. Harness mo
tored to Pendleton Monday of this
week to visit his wife.
The ladies and members of the
community church held their annual
bazaar at Mrs. Burnham's store in
Hermiston Saturday and were well
pleased with the patronage.
Mrs. Rolfe Odeane and daughter
Mary Helene from Portland visited
her sister, Mrs. Lyle Eddy and fam
ily several days last week and left
for Moscow, Idaho, Friday to visit
her mother.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Eddy and Mr.
and Mrs. Ray Colter motored to
Walla Walla Friday night to see the
asketball game between Whitman
college and the University of Idaho.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stewart vis
ited Mrs. W. O. Miller at Umatilla
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Kendler and
family left Sunday for their home at
Elmer City after a two weeks' visit
with relatives.
Melvin Benefiel and Bert Dexter
were emlpoyed recently on the sur
vey gang now working at the muni
tion plant site west of Hermiston.

Pine City Ladies Quilt
At New Club House
The Pine City ladies enjoyed an
all-day meeting and potluck dinner
at their club house Friday. They
sent the day quilting.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Warner and
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans and Ruth
of Hermiston were dinner guests at
the Roy Neal home on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Brewster of
Spokane brought their granddaugh
ter, Shirley McGreer, home Satur
day. Mrs. Clayton Ayres and Mrs. Mar
ion Finch attended Home Economics
meeting at the Percy Hughes home
Saturday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Wattenburger
and family and Mrs. Wattenburger's
sister Mrs. Alvin Strain who is vis
iting from Portland spent Saturday
evening in Pendleton.
Mrs. Frank Saling was called to
Spokane Friday by the illness of
her daughter.
Mrs. Gladys Corrigal and daugh
ter Shirley Hoyte were Pendleton
callers Saturday.
Mrs. Reid Busick and children of
Long Creek spent Saturday night
and Sunday with her arents Mr. and
Mrs. A. E. Wattenburger.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton DeBord
spent Sunday night with Mr. and
Mrs. Clayton Ayres.
Miss Mary Daley, who is in train
ing at the St. Anthony Hospital in
Pendleton, spent Sunday with her
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Wattenburger
and family and Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Wigglesworth of Echo spent Sunday
at the Emery Cox home in Hermis
ton. Mr. and Mrs. Daley and daughters

Mary Carol Thompson underwent
an emergency appendectomy at the
St. Anthony's hospital in Pendleton

Mr. Wm. McCarty has been re
moved from the hospital to his dau
ghter's home and is improving.
17 DAYS VACATION
It was revealed today that the
Heppner high school will have a 17
day vacation starting December 20,
1940, and ending on January 6, 1941.
This is the longest Christmas va
cation in many years.
CALL FOR WARRANT
Warrant No. 1 14 issued by School
District No. 25, Boardman, Morrow
County, Oregon, will be paid on pre
sentation to the district clerk. In
terest on this warrant ceases Dec.
6, 1940.
