Football Players
Feted at Lexington

Mr. and Mrs. Owens Helms of
Pendleton visited here Saturday.
Lavonne McMillan underwent an
appendicitis operation at the Hepp
ner hospital Saturday morning. She
is reported to be recovering rapidly.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McMillan
of Carlton were week-end guests
at the S. G. McMillan home. They
were on their way home from De
troit where they purchased a new
car. Coy Thornburg returned to
Carlton with them.
Guests at" the Sarah Thornburg
home this week were Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Thornburg of Spokane.
Sunday dinner guests at the Net
tie Davis home were Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Gray and family of Stanfield,
Clayton Davis, and Mr. and Mrs.
Laurel Ruhl and son.
Clayton Dayis returned to his
duties with the U. S. navy Monday
after visiting friends and relatives
here and at Hermiston.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall
and family spent the week end in
Washington.
Mrs. Wright of Portland is visiting
her daughter, Mrs. John Miller.
A. M. Edwards was a business
visitor in Lewiston, Idaho, Friday
and Saturday.
Mrs. Maude Pointer and Harriet
left Saturday for Portland and vi
cinity where Mrs. Pointer plans to
spend the winter. They were ac
companied by Mrs. Tempa Johnson
who will spend the winter in Astoria
and Corvallis.
Adolph Majeske and Clarence
Carmichael were business visitors
in Portland last week.
Alfred Van Winkle left Tuesday
for Salem for further medical treat
ment. Mr. and Mrs. George Peck spent
several days this week in Portland.
There will be a dance at the local
grange hall Saturday, November 16,
with music furnished by Wright's
orchestra of Pendleton. The dance
committee is presenting beano as
an added attraction.
The regular . grange meeting was
held Saturday evening at the hall.
The program was presented by the
H. E. C. ladies and consisted of the
following numbers: Drill, grange
ladies; reading, Alta Brown; piano
solo, Carolyn Bauman; pantomime,
Heppner ladies; duet, Lilian C. Tur
ner and Lucy Rodgers, and story of
her experiences by Mrs. Swaggart.

the coming year: Master, Harvey

The Ideal football team was hon
ored with a banquet Saturday night
at the schoolhouse. Ivon Amend
was master of ceremonies. Letters
were presented to Don Campbell,
Gene Majeske, Duane Johnson, Roy
Martin, Carl Marquardt, Bill Nich
ols, Don Peck, Raymond Turner, El
den Padberg and Leonard Munkers,
manager. Duane Johnson repre
sented the team in thanking the
mothers for the banquet and re
sponse was by Anne Johnson.
Mrs. Myra Munkers is seriously
ill at her home.
Officials elected at the election
Tuesday are Alonzo Henderson, ma
yor; councilmen, Clarence Carmi
chael, John Miller and Harry Din
ges; recorder, Edith Edwards, and
Elmer Hunt was reelected treasurer.
Mrs. Roy Johnson and Mrs. Alon
zo Henderson are spending a few
days in Portland.
The PTA meeting wa? held Tues
day evening at the local schoolhouse.
A business meeting was held and a
committee was appointed to make
plans for a Christmas party for the
community. The program was start
ed with a reading by Lilian C. Tur
ner and observance of Armistice day
with songs by the audience. Gene
Cutsforth Gene Majeske and Don
Campbell gave accounts of their
trips to the stock show m Portland.
Tap dancing was by Mrs. Amends
tapping class. A professor quiz con
test was conducted by Jean Wil
liamson with the audience acting as
participants. The wining side was
awarded all-day suckers. After the
program rerfeshments of pie and
coffee were served.
There will be a dance for the ben
efit of the Boy Scouts on Nov. 30
at the Lexington grange hall.
Wright's orchestra will play. 37-39p.

ed at Friday evening's meeting, with
Carrie Beckett, Orin Wright, Glen
Jones and Bobby Wright as the hon
or guests.
On November 26 there will be an
all day meeting of the grange HEC
with a pot-luck dinner at noon.
There will be a lady from Oregon
State college to discuss "The Selec
tion of Materials for Clothing." Ev
eryone is cordially invited to attend,
as we believe this will be something
of interest to all women.
Grangers keep in mind that No
vember 15 is our annual clam feed.
Please bring cake and jello to go
with the clams.
Noel Bobyns returned a lucky elk ,
hunter, having bagged a nice 5- J
point bull.
A large crowd attended the Volby
Lutheran Missionary meeting at the
farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Peterson. '
Mr. and Mrs. John Hanna, Jr., and
daughters are moving to their home
below Lexington this week. Mrs.
Hanna and daughter have been stay
ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Charley Becket.
Several neighbors met at the Claud
Huston home to listen to election
returns, "a listening party," so to
speak.
Mr. and Mrs. Tyndal Robison vis
ited at the Clive Huston home on
Sunday.
Mrs. Baker of Walla Walla is vis
iting at the home of her son and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker.
Miss Velma Huston and Herman
Parker spent the Armistice holiday
at the Clive Huston home.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parker are
visiting at the home of their son and
family in Everett, Wash, lhey ex
pect to be gone until after the
Thanksgiving holiday.
The ladies of the community as
sembled at the Ray Wright home,
giving Mrs. Barton Clark a surprise
shower. Mrs. Clark (Beth Wright)
received many lovely presents.
