Mrs. Kiltson passed away in Tacoma August 23 at the age of 29 years and 31 days. She is survived by her husband, J. Kiltson, her father, Omar Luttrell of John Day and the fol lowing sisters: -Edna Luttrell of Port land, Ruth Vanderwood of Califor nia, Fern Duran of Heppner, Faye Munkers of Lexington and Lois Snidley. Moffatt Dennis officiated and the Miller brothers, Dona Bar nett and Trina Parker sang "Land Beyond the Sky" and "When I've Gone the Last Mile of the Way" with Eula Barnhouse at the piano. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Luttrell of Port land were here for the funeral of their niece, Dona Kiltson, Monday. The John Day home of Omar Lut trell was destroyed by fire Sunday evening while Mr. Luttrell was in Lexington. The school superintendent, Ned Gleason, formerly of Union, arrived Monday for the school year and is living in the Tempa Johnson home on the hill. Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Anna Burchell in Portland. Marvin Glasscock of La Grande was visiting friends here Sunday evening. Friends here learned of the birth of a son to Mrs. Alberta Fulgham Graves in Kennewick. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Daugherty, Wmor Lexington residents, now liv ing in Washington, are the parents of a daughter, Sharon Lee, born August 19th. Frank Hogan, bookkeeper at 's ImDlement store, return ed home Wednesday. His place will be taken by Frank Clune. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whillock and family motored to Umatilla Wednes day evening. The Perkins family has moved to Heppner. The Knighten family of Monu ment has moved into the Ralph Scott house. Orville Cutsforth is having the house on the old McAlister farm wired for electricity. The house is occupied by the Noble and Rowe families. ' Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cutsforth and family and Betty Smethurst spent last week fishing at Diamond lake. Thelma Smethurst kept the Cuitsforth babv. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Campbell and family of Wallowa visited friends here last week. Lonnie Henderson towed Louis Marquardt's wrecked car to a Pen dleton garage Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Williamson are moving this week from the Barnett house to the Getta Cox house re- oently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Carmichael. Lulu Matlock of The Dalles spent last week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvannus Wright Mr. and Mrs. Eslie Walker were dinner guests at the Art Hunt home Thursday. The John McMillan family arriv ed home from Portland this week. Nick Leathers of Portland is vis iting his daughter, Juanita Carmi chael. Mr. and Mrs. John Padberg mo tored to Walla Walla Sunday to get Mrs. Padbergs brother, Charles Lieuallyn, who visited here until Tuesday when he left for his home in California. He was honored with a farewell dinner Monday evening at the Oris Padberg home with Mr. and Mrs. John Padberg and the Archie Padberg family as other guests. Carl Tinkhem left for Portland Tuesday to attend school. Mabel Gale and children of Port land and Jessie Wright of The Dalles spent the week end at the Sylvannus Wright home. Rose Cuningham of Heppner acompanied Mrs. Gale home and will spend a few days in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Rice and granddaughter, Eleanor have gone to Portland to spend a few weeks. Raloh Scott and Doris motored to The Dalles Saturday. Mrs. Scott returned home and Dons remained with Erma. Mrs. Raich Scott spent Monday with her mother, Mrs. Roy Neill at Pine City. Dan Dinges and Sam McMillan left Thursday for a two weeks' va cation in Spokane, Montana, Yellow stone park and Salt Lake City. La Verne Wright is working in Portland for the Jackson-Jepson Construction company. Vera Whillock was in charge of the local postoffice Tuesday while her parents motored to Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Buel Harshman have moved to Eight Mile. Mr. and Mrs. C. McWhorter spent the week end in Hood River and Portland. Ed Cummings has returned from Ritter springs where he had been vacationing. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Gentry and family left Tuesday for Portland to make their home. Ruth Cowins of Heppner visited the George Allyn home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. -Carl Allyn and Maxine were visitors in town Mon day evening from lone. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cutsforth spent Tuesday in Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. George Peck and Jack Miller were Pendleton visitors Saturday.
