Interest in the proposed vacation

building has been granted. The
church hopes to open the school on
Monday, July 15 at 9 o'clock, with
both indoor and play activities un

children of school age. The hours
are from 9 to 12 each day except
Saturday and Sunday, and the school
will last for two weeks.
James Bert Swift, who resided
here years ago, was buried here on
Sunday, the services having been
held in the church at 2 o'clock. Mr.
Swift was born at Walla Walla,
Wash., 51 years ago, and spent prac
tically all of his life in Morrow
county. He is survived by four
children, Mona and Harold, who live

which the out-of-state members of
the party had never seen before.
There was an all day and evening

Mrs. Reed and the Misses Lucille
and Jean Reed of Spokane arrived
on Wednesday to spend the summer
with Mr. Reed at the mill.
One day last week the ladies from
the mill community surprised Mrs.

a baby shower. Mrs. Hughes was
the recipient of many beautiful gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hoskins, their
son Alva and his two sons spent
several days at the opal mines. On
the Fourth Mr. and Mrs. Neal Kni

of Pine City, joined the Hoskins
family in a picnic dinner. The Hos
kins' live near Portland, and this is
the first time they have returned to
Hardman in many years. Their home
before leaving here was near Matte
son butte.
The continued dryness calls for
the much postponed rain, as already
there have been a number of fires
in the mountains. On Thursday there
was a call for fire fighters with only
Charlie McDaniel from here re
