SOCIETY CHIT-CHAT

Mrs. Robert Weir, Sr., of Lake
view was an overnight guest last
Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Garnet Barratt. She returned home
Saturday, accompanied by Miss
Margaret Doughty, who will visit
at the Weir home.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Belanger de
parted this morning for their home
at Moro, Mr. Belanger arriving last
evening from Pendleton to pick up
Mrs. Belanger who had been a guest
for two days at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. P. W. Mahoney.
Mrs. Harold Cohn entertained
members of her duplicate club Tu
esday evening at Mrs. Lucas' Place.
Refreshments were served at the
close of the evening.
Mrs. Garnet Barratt was hostess
to members of her bridge club at
her home yesterday afternoon. The
affair was a dessert luncheon and
high bridge score was won by
Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Pinckney left
Wednesday for Portland, with mem
bers of the tennis team as passengers.
The boys are Bob Pinckney, How
ard Wray, Hugh Crawford and Don
Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Blankenship
and family also are attending the
tennis matches, and Mrs. Blanken
ship .will remain for a time in
Portland, going on from there to
visit relatives in Centralia and Ev
erett, Wash.

The American Legion Auxiliary
will hold their first annual Plate
Party on May 28 at the home of the
president, Mrs. Charles Cox. The
affair will be a pot luck luncheon
beginning at 1 p. m., for all members.
Officers of the Eastern Star lodge
met Monday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. James Thomson, Jr., to make
plans for the meeting of the lodge
Friday night Ten were present, and
refreshments were served by Mrs.
Daisy Shively and Mrs. Emma Ev
ans. Brothers of Mrs. Charles Cox, Mr.
T. C. Burroughs of Boise, Idaho,
and Mr. B. H. Burroughs of Port
land, are visiting at the Cox home.
Mrs. Cox and Mr. T. C. Burroughs
spent several days in Portland last
week.
Mrs. J. J. Nys entertained her
duplicate club at her home last
Thursday evening. The winning
team was composed of Mrs. D. M.
Ward and Mrs. L. E. Dick, Mrs. H.
McCurdy and Mrs. Nys. Refresh
ments were served at the close of
the evening.
Mrs. Ralph Thompson was hostess
at luncheon at her home Wednesday
for members of her duplicate club.
Guests included Mrs. Charles
Vaughn, Mrs. Earl Gilliam, Mrs. C.
C. Patterson, Mrs. C. W. McNamer,
Mrs. W. C. McCarty, Mrs. Fred Lu
cas and Mrs. Glenn Jones.
Mr. Arthur Holcomb of Spokane
was a dinner guest Monday evening
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. C.
Pinckney.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knox leit
Sunday for Eugene, where they will
spend the summer.

but the main emphasis is being
placed upon the Children's day pro
gram which will be held Sunday
evening, June 10. All children not
attending other Sunday schools are
welcome to take part in these week
day classes.

vote of 679 against 486 for Marie
Clary. Unless there is a write-in
