ELMER GRIFFITH A wedding of interest to Morrow county people was solemnized at The Dalles Sunday, April 7, when Miss Barbara Wetmore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Denslinger of that city became the bride of Donald E. Heliker, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Heliker of Morgan. The cere mony was performed by Rev. W. I. Ech of the Lutheran church at the home of the bride's parents. Miss Arlene Wetmore was her sister's only attendant. Riley Mun kers of lone was best man. Eugene Normoyle of lone sang "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" and "By the Bend of the River," accompanied by Mrs. Norman Everson of Hood River. A reception attended by 35 guests was held immediately after the cer emony, following which the young couple left for a short trip. They will make their home at lone. Mrs. Heliker was a member of the class of 1939, The Dalles high school and her husband was grad uated by lone high school in 1934. Out of town guests at the wed ding included Mr. and Mrs. Lee Howell and Mr. and Mrs. Norton Lundell of Heppner; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Heliker of lone; Mr. and Mrs. George Caskey, Pullman, Wn.; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Everson, Hood River, and Miss Grace Zink and Miss Viola Atkins of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bailey of Mor gan are the parents of a baby girl, born March 31 at The Dalles. The baby has been named Julia Mabel. Mrs. Bailey is still at The Dalles, but plans to return home soon. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Bristow and Mr. and Mrs. David Rietmann en joyed a week-end visit from Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Swensen and children, Bobbie and Phyllis, Ro land Wade and Wesley Dice of Wal la Walla, Mrs. Swensen and Mr. and Mrs. Wade are brother and sis ter of Mrs. Bristow. Mrs. John Miller and daughter, Miss Erma, and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Simmons and children of Walla Wal la spent Sunday at the David Riet man home. . Joey Engelman spent Sunday in The Dalles, visiting friends. Errett Hummel, principal of the lone school, spent several days last week in Spokane, attending a tea chers' institute. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Devine and two children spent several days here the first of last week, visiting Mr. Devine's aunt, Mrs. E. C. Heliker, and also relatives at Lexington. Heppner now lives at Ketchum, Idaho, which is near Suri Valley. Bert Mason received word Friday that his sister, Miss Ella Mason of Portland, had been injured in a fall. Mrs. Clara Kincaid departed for Portland that evening to look after her sister. Louis and Henry Buschke, R. L. Ekleberry and Dean Eklebery went coyote hunting on the latter's place near Morgan, and dug out a den of five young ones Sunday, They reported that the ground was wet almost six feet deep. R. L. Ekleerry departed Tuesday by auto on a business trip to Salem. Glen Burroughs of Kirksville, Mo,, arrived Saturday morning on the train to be with his father, French Burroughs, who is critically ill at his farm on Rhea creek. M. W. Mahoney of Portland was a visitor at Morgan Saturday and Sunday, looking over his crop on the ranch "farmed by Ed Buschke. Mr. and Mrs. E. M.Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pettyjohn, I. R. Robison, Mrs. Frank Engelman and Mrs. Lax ton McMurray attended a meeting of the church board at Lexington Monday evening. . Bert Mason, Jr., has been appoin ted editor of the O. S. C. section of the Association of Western Forestry clubs, "Affairs," according to word received' by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ray and Mrs. Roy Ray of Hood River were Sun day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray. Rev. CLAUD COATS George A. Corwin was a business visitor in" North Powder over the week end. Albert Boardman,' former resident of Boardman, now living in Salem, arrived here last Thursday for a few days' visit. Miss Laurette, who has been em ployed in the Gorham home for the past several months, returned to her home to stay on Saturday, Miss Lilly Rauch from Butter creek is taking her place. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Shannon have purchased a new car. Paul Smith recently purchased a new tractor. Mrs. M. E. Coats and Leon Cha pin were visiting at the Claud Coats home the latter part of last week. Mrs. Coats is Claud Coats' mother. Miss Lois Springer of Vancouver arrived here last Thursday for a short visit with Miss Clara Mae Dillon. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Zurcher and family are the new owners of the former Earwood place. They moved here from their home in Fossil last week. Earwoods are now living on the Tom Miller place. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Healy, newly married, visited at his home here last Saturday and Sunday. Heppner Freshman Makes Honor Roll University of Oregon, Eugene, Ap ril, 10 (Special) John Crawford, Heppner, was one of 165 students at the University of Oregon to make the winter term honor roll with a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Grade point averages are computed on the basis of 4 points for an A, 3 for a B, and 2 for a C. Crawford is a graduate of Hepp ner high school and is a freshman majoring in business administration at the university. He is the son of Mrs. Spencer Crawford. RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT Whereas, the Messenger of Death has again visited our number, and has removed from the roll of work men the name of our brother, Spen cer Crawford, who has been called to his final home, and Whereas Companion Crawford was a true and faithful Mason, whose activities covered many long years in service to Heppner Chapter No. 26, R. A. M., and we wish to make permanent record of his fidelity; Therefore, be it resolved, that we, his brother craftsmen of Heppner Chapter No. 26, at this time pause in submission as we recall his many virtues, and to give expression to our deep sorrow caused by his de parture. To the widow and children of our deceased brother we extend our deepest sympathy in this, their hour of sorrow. Be it resolved, that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family of the deceased, that a copy be entered on the records of the lodge, and a copy be handed to the Heppner Gazette Times for publica tion.
