Boardman Students
Attend Play Day

Rev. and Mrs. Walpole and Mrs.
.Eva Warner were in Umatilla to
attend the Ladies Aid meeting last
Wednesday.
Oscar Chenowith of McMinnville,
enroute to Idaho, stopped here is
see Glen Mallery on Thursday. The
boys attended college together.
Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Corwin made
a business trip to Corvallis over last
week end, stopping off at Hood
River to visit Mrs. Corwin's par
ents. The high school girls attended a
play day given by the Heppner
girls in Heppner, Friday, March 15.

schools were also represented. The
afternoon was spent in a program,
games and refreshments.
Miss Geraldine Healy spent the
week end visiting friends and rel
atives in Heppner. She returned
home on Sunday.
Miss La Vein Baker, who is at
tending Eastern Oregon College of
Education, was here this week vis
iting her parents.
Mrs. Mike Healy and Mrs. Jose
phine Rands visited Mr. Healy's
brother, John Healy, in Pine City
Friday.
A pinochle party was given by the
H. E. club at the McFarland home
on Thursday, March 14. High hon
ors were won by Mrs. Dan. Ransier
and Bill Lilly, and consolation was
taken by Mrs. Nate Thorpe and
Clyde Tannehill.
Mr. and Mrs. Brice Dillabough and
family and Miss Donna Jane Rands
of Latourell Falls are spending the
week here and at Pendleton with
friends. They were formerly resi
dents of Boardman.
Miss Awilda Bleakney,' who is
attending University of Washington
in Seattle, arirved here Sunday for
spring vacation with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. NeaT Bleakney.
Mr. and Mrs. George McCutcheon
and family visited here Saturday
nd Sunday. They are now residing
in Walla Walla.
Mrs. Thorpe, former resident of
Boardman, suffered a severe stroke
at her home in Gaston last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe were
called to her bedside Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Gorham, Mrs.
Chas. Dillon, Miss Elinor Tilden,
Mrs. Gladys Fortier, Mr. and Mrs.
Clyde Tannehill and Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Miller were among those at
tending the opening of "Gone With
the Wind" in Pendleton last Sun
day. The H. E. club is sponsoring an
Easter bazaar in the grange hall on
Saturday, March 23. Dinner will be
served at 6:30 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Delano moved
to their new home Saturday, which
has recently been built by friends
and neighbors. Their home burned
to the ground last winter.
Leland McClouth took R. W.
Bleakney to Umapine on Saturday
to visit his daughter, Mrs. Cecil
Young.
