Floyd Halroyd Miller
Buried at Lexington

Services for Floyd Halroyd Miller,
54, were held from the Christian
church in Lexington at 2 o'clock p.
m., Friday, March 15, Rev. Moffatt
Dennis officiating. Mr. Miller's
death occurred in Colorado Springs,
Colo., Monday, March 11.
Mr. Miller was born at Hunting
ton, W. Va., June 19, 1885. His par
ents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio,
where his father died several years
later. In 1915 he came as far west
as Pagosa Springs, Colo., where he
resided until coming to Oregon in
1922.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss
Iris Miller of Colorado Springs and
Mrs. Norma Marquardt of Lexing
ton; a brother, Cladue L. Miller of
Cincinnati; four nieces and two
nephews, Mrs. Claudia Kenneweg
of Cold Springs, Ky., Mrs. Sylvia
Holderer and Miss Carol Miller of
Cincinnati, and Carl, Billy and Ma
jo Marquardt of Lexington.
Barbara Slocum of Heppner spent
the week end at the Gus McMillan
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Otis Allstott of Her
miston visited at the Archie Pad
berg home Saturday.
Red McFadden spent Sunday in
town from the Harry Duvall ranch.
Mrs. Myrtle Gentry and grand
daughter, Virgie Lee, were guests
at the Sylvannus Wright home last
week. They motored to Hardman
Monday to spend a few days at the
Virgil Gentry home.
Mr. and Mrs. John Padberg were
honored with a dinner at the Oris
Padberg home Sunday, which was
their 43rd wedding anniversary.
Present besides the honorees were
Mr. and Mrs. Eldee Vinson, Mr. and
Mrs. Archie Padberg and family,
and Mr. and Mrs. Oris Padberg and
family.
Visitors in Hermiston Thursday

Gladys Burnside and son, Susie
Padberg and daughter, and Chris
Brown.
Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Sherman and
daughter were dinner guests at the
Elmer Hunt home Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hunt and
children, Gerald Acklen and Char
lotte Chambers were Pendleton vis
itors Saturday.
Skating was enjoyed in the Leach
hall Saturday evening and Sun
day afternoon.
Vernon Warner and Coy Thorn -burg
of Carlton arrived here Satur
day. Vemon returned Sunday but
Coy plans to remain for a week or
two.
The Ralph Scott family motored
to The Dalles Saturday to see Erma
Scott and report that she is much
improved.
Mr. and Mrs. James Leach, Trina
Parker, Bertha Dinges and Ruth La
sich went to Pendleton Sunday to
see "Gone With the Wind.'
Gloria Dolphin went to Pendle
ton Sunday to visit relatives.
Kenneth Peck is home for the
Easter vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. James Valentine
are the parents of a daughter, born
in the Heppner hospital this week.
She was named Karen Reed.
Mr. and Mrs. Callie Duncan en
tertained a group of friends at their
home with a "500" party Saturday
evening. Refreshments of vegetable
jello salad, sandwiches and coffee
were served. Guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Dinges, Mr. and Mrs.
George Peck, Mr. and Mrs. James
Leach, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Warner,
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bauman, Mr.
and Mrs. Elmer Hunt, Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Johnson, Mr. and 'Mrs. Law
rence Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Ladd
Sherman, Lou Broadley and Merle
Carmichael.

in Portland this week.

Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carmichael

day at the home of Annabbelle Eu
banks. Refreshments were served.

Mr. and Mrs. Willie Steagall of
Spray are working on the Harry
Duvall ranch.
A fire damaged' the roof of the
local meat market Tuesday evening.
The fire apparatus was put to work
immediately and further damage
was prevented.
Mr. McTavish, adjuster for the
insurance company adjustment bu
reau, was in town Friday consult
ing the local agents, Eubanks and
Breshears, in regard to the recent
fire at the Lane store. An agree
ment was reached that the cost of
the damage was $115.
Harley Anderson of Eight Mile
underwent an appendectomy at the
Heppner hospital Saturday.
Mrs. LeGrand Guild and baby
are visiting Mrs. Guild's mother,
Mrs. Blanche Patterson this week.
Mrs. Guild's home is in Snohomish,
Wash.

home Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.
E. B. Wattenburger, Mrs. R. E. Mc
Greer and Mrs. John Harrison were
guests.
Mrs. E. B. Wattenburger and Mrs.
Lois Kent entertained at a pinochle
party. St. Patrick's day decorations
were carried out. There were four
tables in play with high honors go
ing to Mrs. R. E. McGreer and
Russell Moore, low to R. E. McGreer
and Mrs. Marion Finch.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wiggles
worth and family were Sunday din
ner guests at the E. B. Wattenburg
er home.
Jim Ayers was a caller at his
ranch on Butter creek Monday.
Lilly Rauch spent the week end
in Spokane.
Johnny Moore of Seattle is spend
ing a week with his brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Burt Barnes attend

Mrs. Healy was called to Heppner
Tuesday morning by the illness of
her mother, Mrs. Mike Kenny.
