Ledbetter reports the loss of a valuable cow at his farm on Rhea creek. The animal was shot in the eye, presumably by a bird hunter, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Swanson and Mr. and Mrs. John Eubanks de parted Monday morning for San Francisco, where they are attending the fair. Mr. and Mrs. John Troedson and their son Carl Troedson made a fly ing trip to Portland Sunday, to pay respects to the newly arrived son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Troedson, This is the Troedson's first grand child. He has been named John Francis. Rev. C. H. Baldwin held preaching services here Sunday morning and in Lexington the same evening. Guests at the James Lindsey home near Morgan are Mrs. Lindsey'i brothere, John Bacon of Vallejo, Cal and her cousin, Hubert Hill of Bow ser, B. C. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Reed and daughter of Estacada were week end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Denny. Mr. Denny's sis ter, Mrs. Ira Manville of Portland was also a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Clel Rea have leased the G. A. Pettys ranch at Jordan Siding and are moving out there Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Linn have word that their son Clarence and his friend, Robert Rietmann, are seeing the sights at the New York World' fair. M. E. Cotter is reported to be somewhat improved, but is still confined to his bed. Mrs. Henry Clark went to Port land Sunday and visited her grand daughter, little Clara Ann Swales, who is under the care of a special ist in the city. She made the trip with Mr. and Mrs. John Troedson Jay Schumacher of Lake Tahoe was expected to arrive Wednesday to take his mother to her home in Sunnyvale, Cal. The elder Mrs, Shumacher has been a guest at the home of her son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Feldman with whom she made the trip to Flint, Mich. Martin Bauernfeind, Morgan post master, drove to the mountains TueS' day, bagged his buck, and returned home the same day. No use in wast ing time on a job like that. A birthday party was held at the Harry Munkers home below lone September 24, honoring Grandma Munkers eighty - first birthday, There were about sixty present, Dinner, including a beautiful birth day cake, decorated with eighty-one candles, was served on the lawn. Twenty-four members and guests attended the meeting of the Union Missionary society at the Congrega tional church parlors Thursday, Rev. C. H. Baldwin led the program and told of his experiences in mis sion work in Alaska. Basket lunches were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Colvin and Mr. Colvin's brother, Waverly, of Portland, and Mrs. Colvin's brother, Blaine Blackwell of Yachats, ar rived Friday to take a chance on shooting a buck in the mountains. They were guests of Mrs. Colvin's sister, Mrs. Dan Long. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan and Mrs. Morgan's brother, Delmar Crawford, went to Portland Friday where they planned to attend the U. O. -Stanford game as well as transact some business. Lyle Van Deusen of Top spent Thursday night at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Martin Bauernfeind, at Morgan. He had come to Heppner to bring Lloyd Bohannon, who is employed on his ranch, to the hos pital for a major operation. Mrs. Bohannon and baby are staying with Mrs. Minnie Farrens in lone, and Mr. Bohannon was moved there from the hospital Friday. Mrs. Wallace Matthews, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Ely, at Morgan, depart ed for her home near Roseburg Sunday. DeLynn G. Halston, state manager of the Omaha Woodmen, paid an official visit to the lone camp Mon day evening. lone Camp No. 62 was assisted by Echo Camp No. 61 in the initiation of nine candidates. Re freshments were served after lodge. Milton Morgan was elected captain of the drill team to be organized later. Crippled Children's Clinic Scheduled Arrangements are being complet ed for a clinic to be held in Pen dleton for the crippled children of Umatilla and Morrow counties. The clinic is being arranged by the Uma tilla County Health unit and the Umatilla County Public Welfare commission. The Morrow County Public Welfare commission will also participate. This is the second clinic to be held in Pendleton for crippled children. It has been tentatively planned that several more will be held during the year. Any person under 21 years of age, of apparent normal mentality, who is suffering from a condition lead ing to a deformity of the bones, joints or muscles, or who is actually! suffering from such deformity may attend the diagnostic clinic upon reference of their parents and fam ily physician. In addition, the de formities of cleft palate, harelip, burn contractures and plastic skin contractures are included. Attendance at the clinic is by ap plication and appointment which may be secured from the Morrow County Public Welfare commission. Following the clinis, if it is found that the family is unable to finance i the cost of the recommended care, plans for this care will be made through the county public welfare commission of the county of resi dence. The clinic will be held in Pendle ton in the Vert Memorial building, on October 19.
