Scene of Wedding

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Myers in Boardman was the scene
of a pretty wedding ceremony at 11
o'clock Sunday morning when Miss
Wilma Myers Tubbs, granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Myers became the

ing. Attending the bride were Miss
Dorothy France as maid of honor
and Margaret Myers Tubbs, sister
of the bride and Metha Herman, sis
ter of the bridegroom, as brides
maids. The bridegroom was attend
ed by Melvin Wilson.
A wedding dinner was served by
the grandparents at high noon to
the following guests: Rev. and Mrs.
H. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Her
man, father and mother of the bride
groom, Metha Herman, Elmer Her
man and Mr. Harsh; Miss Dorothy
France, Miss Elizabeth Stanger and
Melvin Wilson, all of Pendleton;
Mrs. Annie Jayne and Miss Mar
garet Myers of Boardman and the
bride and groom. The bride cut her
wedding cake, which was a three-
layer angel food decorated with a
tiny bride and groom ornament.
Following the wedding dinner a
shower and reception were given
for the bride and groom at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Victor H. Myers at
which many nice presents were re
ceived. The newlyweds, assisted by
the bride's grandmother and the
groom's mother, opened their gifts
in the presence of about 50 friends
and neighbors. A dainty table was
Set for the honored guests, the bride
and groom, the bride's grandpar
ents and the groom's father and
mother. It was decorated with a cen
ter piece of pink bride's roses and
place cards of little brides. The rest
of the guests were served cafeteria
style. Refreshments were ice cream,
cak and coffee. Immdiately after the
reception the bride and groom left
amid a shower of rice . and confetti
for their home in Pendleton.
The annual school meeting of Dis
trict No. 25, Boardman, was held
at the school house Monday after
noon. At the election Walter Lay
was elected directer for the follow
three years and Mrs. Flossie Coats
was elected clerk for one year. The
budget passed by a large vote.

Jackie of California are visiting at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tannehill.
Mr. Rice is Mrs. TannehiU's brother.
Mrs. Jay A. Cox, Irene and Jess
arrived here from their home in
Seattle Saturday. They plan to re
turn in about two weeks. .
Mrs. J. F. Barlow who has been
visiting her son Ray in Eugene for
the past week, returned to her home
Monday. Enroute she stopped at Or
egon City where she visited her sister-in-law,
and at Troutdale where
she spent two days with Mr. and
Mrs. H. Waite.
Mrs. Minnie McFarland, Mrs. Ma
bel Allen and Mr. and Mrs. N. A.
Bleakney returned Sunday from
Corvallis where they attended state
grange last week.
Francis Skoubo, Doris Wilson and
Clayton Allen returned from 4-H
summer school at Corvallis last
week.
Miss Chloe Barlow spent a few
days at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Willard Tubbs at Arlington last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Messenger
and children visited relatives here
Sunday. They live at Meacham.
George A. Corwin, superintendent
of the Boardman schools, was on the
project a couple of days this week.
He was here for the school election
Monday.
Mrs. Blayden, who has been ill at
her home for several days, is slight
ly improved now.
Rhea Creek News
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Walker of
Olympia, Wash., are visiting at the
home of their daughter, Mrs. Noel
Dobyns.
Word has been received here that
Mrs. Martha Robinson Neal is crit
ically ill at her home iii Condon.
Mrs. Claude Huston departed for
Portland Sunday where she at
tended a family reunion.
There will be a dance at Rhea
creek Saturday, June 24. Good mu
sic.
Mrs. Julia Clark has returned
home from Hillsboro where she viS'
ited relatives.

Morrow County, Oregon, will be
held at the Council Chambers in
the City of Heppner, on the 10th
day of June, 1939, between the

hours of 8:00 o'clock A. M. and 5:00
o'clock P. M. to submit to the legal
voters of the City of Heppner the
question of issuing bonds of the
City of Heppner in the amount of
Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00),
for the purpose of providing funds
with which to complete construc
tion of the swimming pool now un
der construction for said city, said
bonds,, both as to principal and in
terest, to be payable from taxes lev
ied by the City of Heppner.
The vote will be by ballot, upon
which shall be the words "Bonds
Yes" and "Bonds No," and the voter
shall place a cross (x) between the
word. "Bonds" and the word "Yes,"
or between the word "Bonds" and
the word "No," which indicates his
choice.
The polls for the reception of the
ballots cast for or against the mea
sure will, on said day and date and
at the place aforesaid, be opened at
the hour of 8:00 o'clock A. M. and
remain open until the hour of 5:00
o'clock P. M. of the same day, when
the same shall be closed.
