A delicious lunch was served at noon by Ber nice Bauman, Opal Townsend and Edna Fetch. Mrs. Cecil Smith is employed at the Swaggart ranch. Donald Lee Hunt and Patricia Jean Steagall are reported to be re covering satisfactorily from their at tacks of whooping cough. A. M. Edwards was forced to come home from his work in Washington on account of illness, last Tuesday, but was able to return the latter part of the week. Mrs. Eslie Walker and children, Betty and Glen, were guests at the Art Hunt home Monday. Betty Smethurst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smethurst, is ill in a Pendleton hospital with a mild case of typhoid fever. Mrs. Sylvia Beymer of Heppner was a visitor at the home of her mother, Mrs. Sarah Booher, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cutsforth are the parents of a G-lb. daugh ter, Sharon Lee, born March 30 at the Heppner hospital Tillman Kirk of Ukiah was a Sun day guest at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Al lvn. The Allvns had as their guest Saturday their granddaughter, Ruth Cowins of Heppner. Mrs. Archie Padberg was a Port land visitpr Friday and Saturday and a Hermiston visitor Sunday. She returned to her home with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otis AUstott of Hermiston. George Tucker departed Satur day for a few days visit in Wash ington. Visitors in Pendleton last week were Gus McMillan, Mr. and Mrs. 'John McMillan and son Denny, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ryan and family. Alfred Owsley, representing Kerr Gifford & Co. at Arlington, was a business visitor here Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Henderson and son Larry Ray spent last week in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Stickney, Mrs. Vada Stickney and Kenneth are liv ing on the Gemmell place in Black horse. Jessie Wright and Doris Lane are visiting relatives in Washington. The new depot agent here is E. J. Anderson. Mrs. Eber Hanks was ill at her home last week. C. S. Quellen of Shaniko was a visitor in town Sunday. Harold Townsend visited his fam ily Saturday evening from his work at Cecil. G. J. Ryan was a business visitor in Condon and vicinity Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Lasich were visitors in Hermiston Sunday. Charles Burchell of Corvallis was a business visitor in the city last week. He was accompanied by Tem pa Johnson who plans to visit here a few days. ' Dwight Townsend is visiting at the home of his uncle, Noah Pettyjohn, who lives above Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones visited with Mrs. Jones' grandfather, Joe Clark, in Arlington Sunday. Mrs. Mabel Gray and mother, Mrs. Davis, visited in Portland last week. They were brought home by Mr. and Mrs. James Pointer of Sa lem. Ebb McMillan returned home from Salt Lake City last Thursday. He was accompanied by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leonard McMillan of Elko. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pomeroy and daughter of Ostrander arrived at the McMillan home Friday. A family dinner was held Saturday with relatives of Ebb McMillan present. Pomeroys returned home Monday and were accompanied as far as Portland by Mrs. Leonard McMillan who went on to her home. .The Union Snuday school Easter program will be held at the Chris tian church Sunday morning, April 9, at 10 a. m. Mr. Trimble will hold services at 11 a. m. C. E. in the eve ning at 6:30 at the Congregational church. Baptismal services Sunday evening at the Christian church. Lexington grange will meet in regular session the evening of Sat urday, April 9. The H. E. C. ladies, meeting with Mrs. Pearl Devine the afternoon of April 13th, are asked to have in mind some useful plan of work to suggest, which might be profitably carried on by the club. A good pro gram has been arranged. Several of our members attend ed Morrow County Pomona grange at Lena last Saturday. B. H. Peck. School News By Jerrine Edwards The high school girls gave a play day for the girls from the Board man and lone schools last Friday. The carnival which was held in the gymnasium last Saturday night was a success. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Dixi's. orchestra played for the dance. Lena Belle Forbes has returned to school after an absence due to whooping cough. Gun Club Records First Perfect Score Four shooters stepped up to the traps at Heppner Rod and Gun clu grounds Sunday and broke their first 25 birds to give Heppner its first perfect score for the third round of the Oregonian telegraphic tourney. They were Luke Bibby, C. C. Carmichael, John Lane and E. O. Ferguson. A fine day drew sixteen shooters in all. Those participating with targets broken out of number shot at were: Luke Bibby 47-50, P. W. Mahoney 96-100, John Lane 98-100, Ambrose Chapin 44-50, R. Jackson 119-125, H. E. Warner 23-25, H. C. Happold 34-50, E. O. Ferguson 49-50, H. Tam blyn 18-25, O. Padberg 12-25, A. D. McMurdo 72-75, C. C. Carmichael 46-50, Vivian Kane 62-75, Junior Lane 12-25. Two of the shooters who shot for their first time, Fred Man kin and Kenneth Jackson, broke 5 out of 25 each. Mra Marvin R. Wightman and children of Condon were visiting this week at the parental home of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Wightman.
