In Hospital Improve

Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison and
Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGreer spent
Sunday in Pendleton.
Tom Boylen and Bob McGreer
left Monday morning for Klamath
Falls on business.
A Hallowe'en pinochle party was
given Saturday evening at the E.
B. Wattenburger home. There were
five tables in use. Mrs. Bertha Ay
ers received high prize for the wo
men and' Marion Finch received high
in the men's prizes. Low prizes went
to Mrs. J. S. Moore and Russell
Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ayers hare
taken over the Jim Ayers ranch for
the coming year.
Pendleton visitors Saturday were
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Ayers and
children, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Neill and
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Foley.
Mrs. Roy Neill returned home
from Portland this last week with
her daughter, Mrs. Neal Knighten,
who has been ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Marion Finch at
tended grange at Lena Sunday.
Everyone is cordially invited to
attend the Pine City high school play
on November 4th, which is Friday.
The play starts at eight o'clock sharp.
There will also be a dance in the
auditorium after the play. Music
will be by the Troubadors.
Darlyene Wattenburger celebrat
ed her fourth birthday Monday with
a Hallowe'en party. Those present
were Mrs. Herman Young and chil
dren Juanita and Bobbie, Mrs. Mc
Greer and daughter Shirley, Mrs,
Jasper Meyers and children, Jerry,
Shirley and Janet, Mrs. John Harri
son, Mrs. A. E. Wattenburger, Juan
ita Ayers, Mrs. Alvin Strain and
Mrs. Bernice Wattenburger.
Roy Neill went to the Ukiah mill
for a load of lumber.
the county last week end from East
ern Oregon Normal school at La
Grande. Both are members of the
EON football team, and Hoskins was
carrying a broken cheek bone re
ceived in a recent game.

SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a budget committee of the Non
high Shcool District of Morrow County, State of Oregon, at a meeting of
said committee held on the 18th day of October, 1938, prepared an esti
mate in detail of the amount of money proposed to be expended by said
Non-high School District for all purposes during the fiscal school year
beginning June 20, 1938, and ending June 20, 1939, and an estimate in de
tail of the probable receipts of said Non-high School District from all
sources for the school year 1938, 1939. The Board of Education of said
Non-high School District has fixed the 5th day of November, 1938, at the
hour of 3 o'clock at the Court House in Heppner, Oregon, as the time and
place at which said estimates may be discussed with the Board of Educa
tion of said Non-high School District, at which time and place any and all
persons interested will be heard for or against said tax levy or any part
thereof. That said estimates and attached original estimate sheets are on
file in the office of the County Superintendent of Schools and are there
