Louis McDonald returned here to
attend high school this year. He has
been working out of Heppner all
summer.
Janet Gorham returned home Sat
urday with her mother who mo
tored to New Plymouth last week.
Janet has been working in Idaho this
summer.
Chloe Barlow returned after a
few days' visit with her grandmoth
er, Mrs. Ferguson, at Gold Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson came also,
and will remain here for a visit.
Herb Parsons and Mr. and Mrs.
Shore and some other friends from
Spokane, spent the week end at the
Parsons home. Herb returned to
Mosier, where he will be employed.
Kate Gorham from Omaha, Neb.,
arrived on the train here Monday
evening and will visit for a time.
Pat Healy left for the mountains
above Wallowa where he will take
care of their sheep.
Kenny Trumbull has taken a few
days off so he could go to Pendle
ton and Spokane on a short visit.
All of the teachers are here, and
school started Monday morning.
Norval Shannon is here again. He
has been working in the harvest field
but of Lexington most of the sum
mer. Eldon Shannon came home over
the week end from near La Grande
where he is employed on the oiling
crew.
Virginia Compton spent a few
days visiting here last week, and
Punk Compton took her to Pendle
ton where she will enter nurse's
training.
Alan Gibb went to Ontario the end
of the week to visit with his father,
Alex Gibb, who has a plumbing bus
iness in the Malheur county city.

Shown at State Fair
Salem. Sept. 6 (Special) A spec
ial hitch for drills behind tractors,
invented by Leo Gorger of Hepp
ner, is being shown in motion pic
tures at the state inventors' show at
the Oregon state fair here,.
With Gorger's invention it is pos
sible to back the tractor and still
have all the drills remain behind
the machine without any one of the
drills leaving a predetermined line
of travel. Damage to drills isalso
eliminated.
The state inventors' show is a new
feature at the fair this year, and it
is in charge of J. T. Anderson, in
dustrial coordinator of Portland'.
