Mr. and Mrs. John Farley enjoyed a mo tor trip into Canada while he was there. On the Fourth, Jimmy went to Prairie City where he reported there were 1700 paid customers to see a polo game, staged' as one of the celebration events. Prairie City is going in for polo in earnest, he said, with plans on foot to put out a local team. The teams playing there the Fourth were from Ontario and Boise. Jimmy has resumed his work with the local Wilson's store. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Dean of Hood. River and son Delbert of Kinzua are visiting at the home of Mr. Dean's sister, Mrs. O. E. Johnson. Leaving home before the Fourth, Mr. and Mrs. Dean drove through by way of Prineville and Mitchell, being joined by their son at Prineville, and en joyed a picnic at Crystal springs on the Ochoco highway. Mr. Dearies .on the Hood River police force, which position he has filled for the last eight years. He enjoyed greeting many old time friends while here. Mrs. L. G. Rumble left today for Oakland, Cal, to visit her daughter, Miss Dorothy Herren, for two or three weeks. She expected to take a United Airliner from Pendleton and stay in Portland until Saturday to catch the plane on which her daugh ter is stewardess. Miss Herren has been a United Air line stewardess for several years and now makes the run between Oakland and Port- land regularly. Dr. Harold McCarter of Oakland, Cal., arrived the end of the week for a visit with his mother, Mrs. Jennie McCarter, leaving on his re turn home yesterday. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Briggs, Miss Opal Briggs, Mrs. McCarter and Dr. ' McCarter motored to Mt. Vernon and visited at the home of Mrs. Mo Carter's brother, Frank Noble. Dr. McCarter is an optometrist in the California city. Mrs. Irene Horton of Delano, Cal., was in the county to attend funeral services for her mother, the late Hannah Marie Lovgren, held at Hardman Friday, and remained for several days to visit with other members of the family. A third son, Lawrence, recently passed ex amination for entrance into the na vy and is awaiting call. Frank Alfred returned home on Tuesday from an over-the-Fourth motor trip. With Mrs. Alfred whom he picked up at The Dalles, he drove to Vancouver where they were join ed by his father, I. B. Alfred, and together they went to Keyport, Wn., naval torpedo station, to visit his brother Harold, and all visited va rious points around Puget Sound before returning Monday. Billy Bennett cut his foot badly on a piece of glass while wading in the creek near home on lower Gale street yesterday afternoon. He re ceived treatment and had the wound dressed at a doctor's office. With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ben nett, he had returned home from Portland the day before.
