Hardman Young Folks
Swim in Rock Creek

Swimming in Rock creek has al
ready gotten under way for the sum
mer, and from reports we gather
there are several good holes. A num
ber of the young folks have been
enjoying them a great deal the last
few days.
Miss Creth Craber was a visitor
at the T.. H. Farris home ast week.
Miss Murl Farrens was a visitor
at the home of Mrs. Ethel McDaniel
Friday evening.
Marion Brannon returned early
Friday morning from Portland. He
spent a few days there as a guest
at the Morton home.
Mrs. Harold Stevens is home
from the Ball ranch. She has been
staying there while her husband
worked.
Creth Craber was a visitor in
Hardman Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Brannon and Her
bert McDaniel were in Arlington
on business Friday.
Betty Cunningham spent several
days at the Brannon camp in the
mountains and here in town.
Mrs. Owen Leathers has improved
but she still suffers from rheuma
tism. Roy Robinson was a business vis
itor in Heppner Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Carey Hastings and
daughters and Opal Hastings and
Elwood Hastings were in Heppner
Friday. From Heppner Elwood went
on to Pendleton.
Mr. and Mrs. Oren McDaniel and
son Ivan were visiting Mr. McDan
iel's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mc
Daniel, Sr. On Saturday Mr. and
Mrs. Carey Hastings took Mrs. Mc
Daniel back to Lonerock.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Buschke and
family have moved to Long prairie
for the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kruger are the
proud parents .of a 7 pound baby
boy born at 2:30 Sunday morning.
Miss Frances Inskeep, Miss Alene
Inskeep and Jim Stevens drove to
Buck Falls Sunday afternoon.
Everett Harshman has been ser
iousy ill for some time at the home
of Mrs. Ethel McDaniel. Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Harshman were here
Friday to see him.
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Merrill and
daughter returned home from Port
land Sunday.
Louis and Bert Cason passed thru
Hardman Friday with their sheep
from Lonerock. They are going to
their summer range near the Mat
teson district. (
Ed McDaniel returned to Hard
man from the mountains where he
has been cutting wood. He is going
to Lonerock to work this-week.
Mrs. Roy Robinson and Creston
and Rita were in Hardman a short
time Sunday. Mrs. Robinson was
called to Heppner to the bedside of
her sister, Mrs. Ethel Bleakman,
who is ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Johnson and
children and Mr. and Mrs. Carey
Hastings and daughters went to Long
prairie to see the Max Buschke fam
ily. Mr. Buschke is stationed there
counting sheep.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lovgren and
children visited at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Owen Leathers Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Adams and son
went to Kinzua for a visit with
their daughter, Mrs. Clarence Rogers.
Harvey Harshman had his sheep
in town early Monday morning on
their way to Cottonwood in Grant
county where they will have summer
range.
Mr. and Mrs. George Samuels and
Gladys Corrigall of Echo were vis
itors at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Sam McDaniel, Sr., Sunday.
Miss Marjorie Thomas is a visitor
at the L. C. Batty home this week.
The Dalles Five dry land lawns
were established for five farm homes
in Wasco county this spring as a part
of the home beautification project
under the joint direction of Mrs.
Louise Harwood, home demonstra
tion agent, and Grant Perry assist
ant county agent. The mixture used
consisted of fairway crested wheat
grass, chewings fescue and winter
blue grass. Cooperators on whose
farms the plantings were made are
D. E. Miller and Raymond Crabtree,
Juniper Flat; Roy Bates, Three Mile;
Earl Benson, Five Mile, and Eugene
Hammel, Columbia.
