Al G. Barnes Circus
Coming to Pendleton
While no circus so far this season
has been scheduled for this county,
lovers of whitetop amusement will be
glad to learn the AL G. BARNES
and SELLS FLOTO COMBINED
CIRCUS will give an afternoon per
formance at 2 o'clock in Pendleton,
Sunday afternoon only, June 19th.
The big show this season is crowd
ed with new wonders, not the least
of which are several exciting Euro
pean acts. In this category fall the
famous Rieffenach and Yom Kam
troupes, both of whom the past two
years have been the continent's
reigning circus sensation.
Hundreds upon hundreds of the
world's foremost arenic stars take
part in the lengthy program, includ
ing such gargartuan features as five
herds of elephants all performing at
one time cavalcades of clowns, mass
feats of equitation, grouped perch
ists, an aerial ballet of 50 lovely lass
ies, countless comely, reckless eques
triennes mounted on educated,
streamlined steeds and all staged
amid colorful, glorious pageantry.
Mabel Stark, the world's only wo
man tiger and lion subjugator, after
two years of movie work, has re
turned to her first love, the circus.
She offers with the big show this
year the thrilling climax of her long,
successful career. Behind triple steel
bars in a vast amphitheater she
forces 30 snarling, ferocious jungle
beasts to perform. Anna Merkel is
another daring young woman who
each performance defies all' gravity
laws. Still others are the Mifcri Rose
Sisters, Olvera Brothers, Panneau
and countless more.
Doors to the Al G. Barnes and
