Dr. Bothwell Speaks
To Boardman Class

High school commencement ex
ercises were held at the auditorium
Thursday evening. Dr. Bithwell of
Whitman college, Walla Walla, gave
the address. Following the exercises
the alumni gave a banquet for the
seniors and a dance was held in the
gymnasium.
Mr. Rothenberger spent the week
end in The Dalles.
Edward Skoubo. was a business
visitor in Pendleton Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Lyle of La
Grande visited at the Baker home
Sunday. N n
Basil Cramer left for Redmond
Saturday where he will work.
John Partlow who has been work
ing at Heppner was home Thursday.
.Mr. Reed of Condon visited at the
Wilson home last week. Mrs. Reed
and Mrs. Wilson are sisters.
The senior class went to Pendle
ton Saturday evening where they
had a banquet. After the banquet
they went to a dance where they
enjoyed the remainder of the eve
ning. Mr. Colloso and Philip Jones
took them in their cars.
Esther Jones of La Grande vis
ited on the project last week.
Maxine and Pauline Strobel of
Athena accompanied Basil Cramer
to Boardman.
Chester and Don Packard of Se
attle visited at the Packard home
last week.
Rolo Moore and Donald Strobel
went to Athena Wednesday to at
tend Maxine Strobel's commence
ment exercises.
Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Ranney of Pen
dleton visited the Gorhams Sunday.
Eldon Shannon was home over
the week end.
Mrs. Colloso and children went
to Corbet where she attended Jessie
Petruzelli's commencement exercises.
Dante and Jessie Petruzelli returned
with her.
Ray Olsen of Portland visited at
the O. B. Olsen home over the week
end.
Edith Nickereson and Helen Rus
sell went to Arlington Saturday.
Mr. Compton of Hilgard was here
Thursday for commencement exer
cises for his daughter, Virginia.
The grade schol went on their an
nual picnic Monday. The first four
grades went to the sand dunes. The
four upper grades went to Dilla
bough's beach.
Mike Healy, Jr., of Portland was
home Thursday. '
Elinor and Patty Tilden left for
Portland Tuesday. Miss Tilden will
return this fall to teach the third
and fourth grades again.
Ed McEntire of Palmer Junction
visited McEntire's Thursday.
La Vern Baker left Monday for
Longview, Wash., where she will
visit.
Eighth grade graduation exercises
were held in the auditorium Mon
day evening. Mrs. Lucy Rodgers gave
the address.
Virginia Compton and Janet Gor
ham left for Hilgard Tuesday.
The high school went to Bingham
springs Monday for their annual
school picnic. After playing at Bing
ham they returned to Pendleton
where they went to a show. Buster
Rands took them in his truck.
for Toledo, Wash., Thursday to visit
relatives.
Mrs. Robert Smith has returned
home for the summer, her school at
Pine City having closed last week.
Don Kenny started picking peas
Sunday. He has about three and a
half acres of fine peas now ready to
market. He will follow these in about
two weeks with early potatoes of
which he has a splendid field.
Six people were baptized in the
Columbia river Sunday. Rev. Al
corn and Rev. Turner held services
at the water side.
Postmaster Logan of Hermiston
accompanied the carrier on his route
Saturday.
RHEA CREEK
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miller and
Mr. Miller's mother are visiting here
from Portland. Mrs. Harold Miller is
a niece of Mrs. Carolyn Bergstrom.
Mrs. Fred Misner and daughter,
Mrs Abie Wham, were here from
Fossil on Friday attending the grad
uation exercises. Mrs. Misner's niece,
Florence Becket, was one of the
graduates.
The Walter and Charles Becket
families spent Sunday in the moun
tains.
Mrs. Alice Anderson has returned
to her home from near Lena where
she has been teaching school.
Rhea creek is planning another
dance at their hall June 4th with the
Estes orchestra playing.
The Bergstroms and Andersons
spent Wednesday at the Tyndall
Strayed from Paul Webb ranch on
Rhea creek, prown horse with white
strip in forehead, halter chain around
neck, branded quarter-circle heart
on left shoulder, N. E. Pettyjohn,
city.

Pep Club Tenders
Mrs. Eddy Shower

The Pep club met with Mrs. Vir
ginia Chanev at her home Wednes
day afternoon. A shower was given
by the members honoring Mrs. Lyle
Eddy. Mr. and Mrs. Eddy left Sat
urday for Boise. Idaho, for the sum
mer. Mr. Eddy will teach the seventh
and eiehth grades again next year.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jones left for
Walla Walla Saturday.
Mrs. Harr left for her home in
Washington the last of the week.
Rev. and Mrs. Turner were dinner
guests at the parsonage Sunday.
Eugene Lamoreaux has rented his
ranch in the Yakima valley and will
remain with his parents this sum
mer.
Jean McFarland of Umatilla is re
modeling the house recently pur
chased from the district by A. C.
Houghton.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bediwell left
Robison place in the mountains on
a picnic, entertaining their guests,
the Millers, from Portland.
Carolyn Bergstrom is spending a
few days in lone with her teacher,
Miss Gladys Brashers.
Genia Huston and Hanna Ander
son attended the Three Links club at
the home of Mrs. Arthur Keene
near Lexington.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miller left
for their home in Portland early
Thursday morning after visiting the
Carolyn Bergstrorn. and Joe Batty
families. Mrs. Bergstrom accompan
ied them to Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bergstrom left
for Portland Wednesday, taking their
son Arthur down for dental work.
A new light plant has been in
stalled at the Rugg service station
at Rhea creek.

Mrs. E. G. Noble has been quite
ill at home for two weeks, suffer
ing from bronchitis. Mr. Nobis, who
himself has been feeling none too
good and not able to attend to his
saddle and harness business regu
larly, has been forced to neglect it
further because of Mrs. Noble's ill
ness. However; he was feeling good
enough the first of the week to en
joy planting garden.

held at the City Council Chambers,
