For O. S. T. A. Meeting

announces a good program on the
slate for the annual meeting in Port
land next week. Harold Buhman,
Heppner, Mrs. Lilian Turner, Lex
ington, and G. W. Corwin, Board
man are the regularly constituted
delegates from this county.
On the speaking program are Miss
Florence Hale, editor "The Grade
Teacher," Darien, Conn.; Dr. Harl
R. Douglas, Glendale, Cab mem
ber of national committee on teach
er tenure; Ralph E. Dugdale, super
intendent Portland schools; Dr.
Warwick M. Hunter, chancellor of
higher education in Oregon, and Rex
Putnam, state superintendent of
schools. Four research committees
will make reports, chairman of the
respective committees being Miss
Burdine Mitchell, Portland, teachers
tenure; E. D. Towler, Astoria, teach
ers retirement; Jas. M. Burgess, Mil-ton-Freewater,
school revenues, and
Harry B. Johnson, Eugene, improve
ment of curriculum.
WILLOWS GRANGE NEWS
Willows grange H. E. club met in
the hall at Cecil, Friday. Dec. 17,
with a good attendance. A Christmas
party was held for members and
time was spent decorating the hall
and planning for the pot-luck din
ner, grange meeting and Christmas
program to be held in the hall Sun
day, Dec. 26.
Willows grange will meet for bus
iness Sunday morning. Dec. 26.
There will be a pot-luck dinner at
noon for members and friends and
a program and Christmas tree in the
afternoon.
Morrow County Pomona grange
will meet in the hall at Cecil, Jan. 8.
Installation of Pomona officers and
the subordinate granges will
take place during the day. Willows
grange will confer the filth degree
in the evening.

Q. Thomson, and is spending the
holidays here from his studies at U.

ing in California, arid sister Beatrice

spend Christmas at home also.
Miss Lola Osborne is home from
Portland where she is a student in

baby daughter arrived last night
from their home at Joseph to spend
Christmas with Mrs. Mitchell's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Parker, and
Mrs. Mitchell and the baby will re
main here for some time while Mr
Mitchell returns to the hospital at
Portland for further treatment of a
leg injured in a recent automobile
accident. Mr. and Mrs. Vawter Par

went an operation for appendicitis at
HeDDner hospital last Friday, from
which she has made rapid recovery..
