Five Tons Turkeys
Shipped from Here
Five tons of turkeys were receiv
ed by Swift and company at the
local aFrmers Elevator warehouse
Tuesday. These were shipped to
Hermiston to help make up a carload
for the east.
Price paid growers delivering
ranged from 19 to 21 cents a pound.
MRS. PIEPER HOME
Arnold Pieper returned home
Monday evening from Portland,
bringing Mrs. Pieper who had been
in the city for a month while she
underwent a major operation. She
is now well recovered from the ef
fects of her illness. Mrs. Pieper's
father, J. H. Frad, accompanied them
from the city and spent a few days
in the county looking after business
interests.
Lexington grange will meet Sat
urday evening at 8 o'clock. Past
Master Harvey Miller will install
incoming officers. '

Past Noble Grand club of Sans
Souci Rebekah lodge met yesterday
at the home of Mrs. Verna Hayes,
working on a quilt and electing of
ficers. Mrs. Hayes was named pres
ident succeeding Mrs. Opal Ayers,
Mrs. Letha Smfth vice-president
succeeding Mrs. Emma Jones, and
Mrs. Etta Parker secretary-trasurer
succeeding Mrs. Olive Frye. . Mrs.
Ayers was presented a past noble
grand pin, and Mrs. Jones a sofa
cushion in recognition of their ser
vices. Present were Etta Howell,
Ida Macomber, Mable Chaffee, Mil
lie Doolittle, Emma Jones, Etta Par
ker, Letha Smith, Olive Frye, Flor
ence Green, Ella Benge and Opal
