Nelson Bartholomew left for
Portland yesterday after spending;
some time here in his work as in
surance salesman. On Tuesday he
called at Pendleton and while there
dropped in on Father James J.
Walsh at St. Anthony's hispital. He
also saw Stephen Irwin who had a
bandaged head from injuries receiv
ed in a recent automobile accident.
Mr. Bartholomew expected to re
turn later in the week.
Elwayne Lieuallen spent Thanks
giving at the home of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lieuallen, coming
from Forest Grove where he is a stu
dent at Pacific university. One of
the star backs on the Pacific U. elev
en. Elwavne received a cracked low
er leff bone in the last game played
and was hobbling around with the
leg in a cast. He expected to have it
out of the cast shortly with the leg
as good as ever.
Mr. and Mrs. Vic Wheelhouse of
Arlington were Thanksgiving eve
ning visitors in Heppner, coming
over from Pendleton with Mr. and
Mrs. J. G. Barratt. where the party
that dav attended the wedding of
Miss Margaret Lieuallen, sister of
Mrs. Wheelhouse and Mrs. Barratt.
Don Turner was home for Thanks
giving from his studies at University
of Oregon. He returned Sunday with
his Barents. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Tur
ner. taking him as far as Biggs where
he crossed the Columbia and joined
a fraternity brother from Yakima
for the rest of the trip.
Dr. and Mrs. Fred E. Farrior and
son Freddie and Larry Moore mo
tored to HeoDner Sunday from Pen
dleton and spent the day with
friends. Freddie is a member of the
first string basketball team of Pen
dleton high, and Larry is on the "B"
squad.
Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Nickerson
spent Thanksgiving at the home of
their son-in-law and daughter, Mr,
and Mrs. William Hayes, in Port
land. They were joined by their son,
Francis Nickerson, University of
Oregon student from Eugene.
Dallas Ward, assistant coach at
University of Minnesota, spent the
Thanksgiving holidays with home
folks at Lexington, and took in the
dance Thanksgiving evening at the
Elks hall where he was greeted by
many old-time friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tetz and chil
dren from Adams spent the week end
with Hetrtmer friends. Mr. Tetz, su
perintendent of the Adams schools,
attending a meeting ot the u. &. a. a,
finance committee here Saturday
Billy Thomson spent Thanksgiving
with his mother, Mrs. A. Q. Thom
son, and other members of the fam
ily here, coming up from Eugene
where he is a junior in journalism
at the University of Oregon.
Amons Oregon State college stu
Hnts home for the Thanksgiving
holiday were Miss Nancy Jane Cox,
Miss Louise Anderson and Norton
Kng. All returned to their studies
the first of the week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Williams are

spent Thanksgiving in Heppner with

from their home at La Grande.
Mr. and Mrs. Crocket Sprouls and
daughter Janet spent Thanksgiving
until Natives and friends in Hepp
ner, coming up from their home at
Hood River.
Frank Alfred, district attorney,
LaVerne Winters visited over
Thanksgiving at the home of his
grandfather, Creed Owens, coming
over from his home at Hay, Wash.
Jimmv Farley visited Heppner
relatives and friends over Thanks
giving, coming up from Corvallis
where he is a student at O. S. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ayers arrived

to remain until after Christmas vis
iting relatives and friends here.

Thanksgiving in Spokane at the
home of Mr. McNeill s parents.

B. Thomas officiating.

Grande spent the holidays visiting
at the Blanche Jones home
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bleakman
of Hardman visited at the McDonald
home over the week end

ward Uthe of Yakima visited at the
Peck and Uthe homes over the week
end.
Bert Solsberry spent Saturday
visiting in The Dalles.
Arthur Allen left for Corvallis

the holidays visiting relatives in

Miss Ada Mae Harford of Arling

Lloyd Mallory of Portland visited
his sister, Mrs. Sundsten, over the

A dance was given in the gym Sat
urday evening. It was sponsored by
the Girls Athletic association and
was in the form of a carnival. Music
was furnished by the Troubadors,

and mother are both progressing
very well.
Train No. 25 is changing time and
will come in at 4:15 p. m. instead of
5:10 p. m.

ville have moved into the depot. Mr.

Grande for the holidays.
Miss Mane Messenger of Portland
is visiting at the E. T. Messenger
home.
Norval Shannon of Kinzua visited
his sister, Mrs. Lily, over the holidays.
The F.F.A. bovs motored to Hepp
ner last Wednesday evening where
they participated in a smoker. The
boys didn t do so well but hope to
do better next time.
Mr. and Mrs. Truman Messenger
and family of Lexington visited at
the J. F. Barlow home over the
week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Mefford and
children of Yakima visited at the
Ed Barlow home over the week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McDaniel of
Arlington visited at the J. L. Jenkins
home Sunday.
Mrs. Vernon Scott gave a party
for her son, Jerry Vernon, Sunday
with four little kiddies as guests.
