Mrs. Frank Leicht, Saturday and
Sunday.
Mrs. Minnie Elder and daughter
Ruth Crawford visited Rev. C. G.
Crawford Saturday and Sunday.
Rev. Crawford returned with his
mother and sister for a week's visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McFall and
son Jack and Mr. and Mrs. McCoy
of Imbler visited relatives here Sat
urday and Sunday. The McFalls,
McCoys, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Isom
and daughter Donna and Mr. and
Mrs. Will Grabiel and baby daugh
ter were dinner guests of Mrs. Jose
phine Grabiel.
A baby son was born to Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. Vanderlinde at the Her
miston hospital Friday. Mr. and Mrs.
Vanderlinde are from Yakima, Wn.,
and have been staying here with
Mrs. Vanderlinde's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Elroy Lamoreaux, for several
months.
Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Slaughter were
shopping in Hermiston Monday.
R. V. Jones suffered a loss of 250
six-weeks-old chicks by fire last
week due to an explosion of their
incubator stove.
Glenn Aldrich trucked a load of
hogs to Portland Saturday. Ollie
Coryell accompanied him as far as
Hood River to visit his sister who is
ill. Mrs. Frank Brace assisted Mrs.
Coryell at the store during Mr. Cory
ell's absence.
The teachers and students of Irri
gon school motored to Heppner Fri
day to attend the track meet, spell
ing contest and music festival. Ir
rigon received second in sports.
M. and Mrs. Chas. Steward and
Mr. and Mrs. James Warner were
dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Har
vey Warner Sunday.
Mrs. Fred Reiks was a Pendleton
visitor Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Becker left for Cali
fornia last week. ,
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Isom and Mrs.
Don Isom were business visitors in
the Stanfield vicinity Monday.
Mr. Loney and Mr. Miller who
moved to a place in Stanfield this
spring were in town a short time
Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Adrain Allen who are
working on the Neill ranch on But
ter creek visited relatives here over
the week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnburg motored to
Pilot Rock Sunday.
BOARDMAN

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mead and daugh
ter Catherine of Wallowa visited at
the Ray Brown home this week end.
The seniors sneaked Saturday
morning, spending the week end at
Seaside. They went in Mr. Ingles'
and Mr. Skoubo's cars.
A. B. Black, Ted Wilson and Stan
ley Partlow spent Thursday, Friday
and Saturday in Corvallis where they
attended the F. F. A. convention.
Miss Janet Gorham spent Friday
and Saturday visiting in Umatilla.
The annual May Day festival was
held at Heppner Friday. Both busses
motored over Friday morning and
back late that night. The first and
second grades were taken over in
cars in the afternoon. Several of
the parents also went. Gene Allen
won second place in the lower di
vision spelling contest. Boardman
placed third in the track meet which
was held in the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Allen, Mildred
and Art Allen all motored to Ne
braska Sunday morning. Mr. Allen
was called there by the illness of his
brother. They will be gone about
two weeks.
Victor Petruzzelli spent the week
end in Portland visiting friends.
Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Thomas spent
several days in Walla Walla last
week where Mr. Thomas attended a
ministers' convention.
A dance was held at the grange
hall Saturday evening. The bed
spread went to Mrs. Delbert Mackan,
and door prizes were received by
Mrs. Mead and Mr. Kenney.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenney, who are
former residents of Boardman spent
. the week end visiting friends on the
project.
Silver tea was held at the home
of Mrs. E. T. Messenger this week.
A pot luck dinner was served and
several outside speakers came. They
were from Portland, Pendleton and
Baker. There was an attendance of
about thirty-five women and a good
time was reported by all.
A B. Black left Monday morning
to take up his new work which is
state bee inspector. No one has been
found yetrto take Mr. Black's place
as F. F. A. instructor.
Miss Marie Ledbetter spent the
week end in Pendleton where she
visited her brother who teaches in
the Pendleton school.
Miss Helen Glenn spent the week
end visiting in La Grande. She vis
ited her parents and friends while
there.
Several people are having their
sheep sheared this week. Pete Sle
vin has the largest band and has
about ten machines going.
Weldon Ayers visited his parents
over the week end from Lexington
where he is now employed.
Mr. and Mrs'. Waite of Troutdale
spent the week visiting old friends
here. They were house guests of
Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Messenger.
Miss Louise Jackson of Umatilla
stopped for a few hours Sunday and
visited friends. She was enroute to
Portland.
The regular Sunday school con
ference was held Sunday afternoon.
A pot luck dinner was served after
church. It was decided to give the
Bibles to those who had earned them
next Sunday. Also a Mother's Day
program is to be held during the reg
ular church hour along with the ser
mon. Several young people attended the
dance held in Umatilla Saturday
evening.
Don Strobel has taken a 60-day
lay-off from the Coyote section and
Mr. Elly has taken his place.
