Mrs. Truman Sethera and daugh
ter Phoebe who have been visiting
the past several weeks with Mrs.
Settlers' mother, Mrs. C. H. Bar
tholomew, left Saturday morning
with Mr. Sethers for Seattle, Wn.
H. E. Young began cutting his
second crop of hay Monday. Due
to the extreme scarcity of water
the second crop of hay will be very
small.
John Healy left Thursday morn
ing on a business trip to St. Hel
ens, where his sheep are on sum
mer range. The Misses Neva and
Lenna Neill accompanied him as
far as Portland where they will
visit with relatives for a few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison and
son and Mr, and Mrs. E. B. Wat
tenburger and children attended
the show in Hermiston Sunday eve
ning. Frank Helms went to the Ar
buckle mountains Monday where
he will cut his winter supply of
wood.
Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Myers and
son were at the C. H. Bartholomew
home Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Neill and
,Miss Alma Neill were business vis
itors in Hermiston Thursday.
Ray Ayers of Hermiston spent
several days visiting with his uncle,
Frank Ayers, this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Foley were call
ers at the Frank Helms home on
Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Wattenburger
and Miss Ina Wattenburger were
visitors at the Mrs. Ollie Neill home
Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Moore received
word recently that Mr. Moore's
nephew, Ronald Moore of Colfax,
Wash., was drowned while swim
ming in the Snake river.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wattenburger
were business visitors in Echo on
Monday.
Mrs. T. J. O'Brien took several
members of the 4-H club to lone
Sunday to a club picnic. Those go
ing were James, Malcolm, Gordon
and Pat O'Brien, Guy Moore and
Ralph Neill.
J. T. Ayers was a business visit
or on the creek Friday.
Floyd Mathers spent Sunday at
the W. D'. Neill home.
Allan Struthers, who has been
helping C. H. Bartholomew with
his sheep near Spokane, returned
to the Bartholomew home Wednes
day evening. Allen bruised his
hand while working, causing an
abscess which later turned into
blood-poisoning. He is greatly im
proved now, however, and will re
turn to Spokane the last of the
week.
Miss Alma Neill spent Sunday at
the A. E. Wattenburger home.
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Neill visited
their daughter, Mrs. Charlie Plourd,
near Pendleton Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Youngwere
business visitors in Hermiston on
Tuesday.
Miss Lenna Neill received word
the early part of the week that Miss
Elnore Barth, former primary
teacher at Pine City, was going to
Los Angeles for a two weeks' visit
with friends.
Tom Healy is now working at
the Joe Kenny ranch.
