That Satisfied Feeling.
ITEPPNER received a housewarm-
lng last Monday and Tuesday
such as conies seldom in a lifetime.
And it woke up Wednesday morn
ing with a warmth of afterglow that
will be slow In fading.
The atmosphere of the town for
several weeks preceding the con
vention was quite like that of any
ordinary American household which
Is soon to entertain a distinguished
guest. Considerable fret and ado
there was about getting the house
in order, with instructions to all
the children about being on their
best behaviour. Much tedious la
bor is always involved at such occa
sion, but labor that becomes fun
through anticipation of the guest's
arrival, the honor to be conferred
upon the household by his visit, and
the privilege of basking in the sun
light of his smile.
Heppner had such an anticipa
tion. The house was quite well
placed in order, thanks to every
member of the family executing his
designated task, and the guest was
no whit disappointing. That he
departed with profuse words and
beaming countenance gave recom
pense for any and all little incon
veniences which any member of the
family may have sustained such,
for instance, as little William hav
ing to eat in the kitchen.
All of these things contributed to
the housewarming, and to the af
terglow. But complete affection for
the guest's visit was attained thru
his conferring a signal recognition
upon the talents of a member of
the family.
J. G. Baratt, native son, grew in
to the position of president of Ore
gon Wool Growers association. His
father was president of the organi
zation ahead of him. He learned
the problems of sheep raising from
doing the little chores assigned to
him as a boy, until he finally came
to assume the management of a
much enlarged sheep operation. So
also in work of the association, was
he schooled from assuming more
and more of its duties until his fel
low members came to know him as
one who could handle the reins of
leadership.
The confidence placed in him by
the state organization is a source
of deep satisfaction to the Heppner
family, which feels all in all that it
received from the housewarming
much more than it gave.
And so, as the good hostess says
on bidding her guest adieu, "I do
hope you will call again soon."
Growers meeting at Heppner Monday.

of the week from Blue Mountain

snow on the level at his place.

work. Children's eyes haven't yet adapted
themselves to close seeing and therefore need
all the assistance correct light can give.
"Fog Light" is insidious because you aren't
usually conscious of it until too late. And the
fact that one school child in every five now
has impaired vision, due in a large
part to poor home lighting, should
make you anxious to banish "Fog
Light" from your home. Your chil
dren deserve every chance to de
velop normal eyesight. And don't
forget that "Fog Light" is dangerous
for your eyes, too, whether at home or work.
Only the Sight Meter can tell you instantly
whether your home is "Fog Lighted" can
prescribe the proper amount of light for every
seeing job. A request to our nearest office will
bring one of our Home Lighting represents
tives to measure your lighting with the Sight
Meter and to suggest how you can get greater
efficiency from the electricity you
buy. This is a FREE Pacific Pow
er ft Light Company service. We
welcome your request for it.

Young eyes deserve eye comfort!
One sure way to banish "Fog Light" is with an I.E.S.
certified lamp. Not only does it give several times as much
light as you get from an ordinary lamp but it softens shadows
and eliminates both reflected and direct glare. At your desk,
by your easy chair, by the children's study table wherever
an I.E.S. lamp is used there you will have new eye comfort.
Made in many attractive styles, these lamps add new beauty
to your home, too. But whatever the style, every I.E.S. Study
and Heading Lamp is scientifically the same. The tag of ap
proval of the Illuminating Engineering Society is your as
surance of that The Study Lamp illustrated retails for $5.95.
