Miss Erma Age, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. A. A. Agee became the
bride of Robert Gilland of Her
miston at a simple ceremony in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Pearson in
Hermiston. Elder Prime performed
the ceremony. Those- witnessing
the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs.
Agee, parents of the bride, the
bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Gilland and Mr. and Mrs. Pearson.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilland will make
their home In Hermiston. Mrs. Gil
land has lived In Boardman for a
number of years. For the past two
years she has been attending school
at Hermiston.
Mrs. L. E. Marschat entertained
a number of friends at a party
Wednesday evening for the honor
of Mr. Marschat's birthday. There
were three tables of "500" in play.
Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Knnedy receiv
ed high honors and Mr. and Mrs.
W. O. King, low. Other guests were
Miss Miriam Campbell, Miss Rhoda
Shellenberger, Miss Katherine
Brown, Noel Klitz, John Steelham
mer, and Mr. and Mrs. Brlce Dilla
bough. A dainty lunch was served
late in the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Barlow, Mrs.
Claud Coats, and Mrs. Jay Cox mo
tored to Pendleton Friday.
Miss Mary Healey left Wednes
day for The Dalles where she will
be employed. ;.
Mrs. Royal Rands and daughter,
Donna Jane, visited relatives and
friends in Freewater and Walla
Walla last week. ,
Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Messonp-er pnH
daughter Lois and Truman Messen
ger were Pendleton visitors Satur
day. A number of young people gave
a surprise party for Miss Linda
Hango at her home Saturday eve
ning. Dancing was enjoyed thru
out the evening. Miss Hango left
Monday for Eugene where she will
again attend the U. of O. This will
be her second year there. Miss
Hango will stop in Portland a few
days before going on to Eugene.
Mrs. Mary E. Coats of Hardman
who has been visiting here for sev
eral weeks and Mr. and Mrs. Claud
Coats motored to Hardman Satur
day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Claud
Coats returned home Sunday.
A number of Boardman folks at
tended the show, "Daddy Long
"Legs" in Hermiston last week.
On Saturday a crowd of young
folks spent the day on Blalock is
land searching for arrowheads and
Indian relics. A picnic lunch was
enjoyed in the afternoon. Mr.
Hoffman took them over in his
boat
Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Weston
spent Tuesday visiting relatives in
Eoho.
E. T. Messenger and Mr. and Mrs.
Nate Macomber and Sybil Grace
went to Pilot Rock Saturday where
Mr. Messenger and Mr. Macomber
joined a group of men and went

Albert Gilbreth of The Dalles is
visiting with his sister, Mrs. Bus
kirk at Castle Rock.
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Allen and
family of La Grande spent the
week end at the Jess Allen home.
Mrs. Courtney and son came with
the Aliens and visited at the Lilly
home in Coyote.
Mr. Morgan came Wednesday
expecting to stay in Boardman this
winter.
Mrs. Daull and son and grand
daughter of Anacortes, Wash., vis
ited Thursday and Friday at the
Gorham home.
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Cooney were
hosts at a lovely dinner Sunday at
their home. Guests were Mrs. Wil
lamina Ramsay and little daughter,
Charlotte Ann, Leo Gorger and Joe
Gorger. In the afternoon they
had a birthday party for Maxine,
whose birthday was September 5
and for little Jerry's birthday on
the 17th. There were i7 little folks
present and all had a lovely time
playing games. A lunch was serv
ed during the afternoon. The rooms
were decorated with balloons which
were given to the little folks at the
close of the party.
Glen Hadley and Claud Ballen
ger went deer hunting on Fox creek
Sunday and returned without one.
They plan to go again before long.
About fifty people attended
grange Saturday night S. E. Not
son, district attorney, gave a very
interesting talk on taxes. Chas.
Smith, county agent, talked on the
subject of pasture grasses. Mr.
Bleakman and Mr. Turner of Hepp-.
ner both gave short talks. Lunch
was served by the men and consist
ed of oyster soup and coffee.
Dallas Wilson left Tuesday for
Portland where he will enter the
Decker business college.

Miss Gertrude Tichenor and her
uncle, Charley Melville, visited at
the home of Julian Rauch Monday
afternoon.
Dan Lindsay and son, Alex, went
to the mountains Friday to get
wood.
Willard Hawley was in Echo Fri
day on business.
Mrs. Anna Schmidt and son, Al
fred, returned home Monday after
their visit to The Dalles where Mrs.
Schmidt's sister, Mrs. Taffel, is now
living.

have gone hunting near La Grande
on Big Powder.
Mrs. Marie Clary, Miss Rosella

the "Snappy Snippers" sewing club

at the Heppner high school Satur
day afternoon. The demonstration
was given before different club

of the meeting was to get the dem
onstration teams in readiness for
the county fair, October 10.
Mrs. Frank Kilkenny visited and
shopped in Heppner on Saturday.
Alpine had the first good rain of
the season Friday afternoon.
James Omohundro was in Pen
dleton on business Friday.
Farm Bureau will be held Octo
ber 3, and a good program is being
prepared. The grade pupils are giv
ing a short minstrel performance
and the high school a very short
one-act play.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bowker were
in Echo Friday attending to bus
iness. Miss Gertrude Tichenor has just
returned home from a visit to La
Grande where she has been for the
last two weeks at the A. T. Troll
inger home.
Miss Margaret McDaid and Miss
Doris Klinger will leave on Tuesday
for Salem where they will give
their 4-H club sewing demonstra
tion on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Miss
Nora McDaid will drive down to
Salem with them. Kenneth Kling
er, the boy who received the high
est ranking in the health clubs of
the county, will also be a member
of the party.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lindsay were
at Pendleton Thursday where they
attended to business.
E. P. Pearson of Echo was at the
Charley Melville place last week
installing a radio.

Jr. are near Ukiah on Camas creek
on a hunting trip. They left Satur
day afternoon expecting to return

Nine sheep belonging to G. L.
Bennett were struck by lightning
and killed Friday during the storm.

ther and sister. He will return in
October.
