Sunday evening the young peo
ple of the Methodist church will
present a missionary pageant. The
first scene depicts a worship ser
vice in the temple of Brahma. The
second scene will represent a mass
meeting In India. Everyone is cor
dially invited to the service.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Klinger, res
idents of the Lexington wheat belt,
were transacting business in the
city Monday. They expressed plea
sure at the goodly supply of mois
ture being received In their section,
and stated the new crop was show
ing up well.
Vawter- and Jasper Crawford
were in Corvallis Saturday and en
joyed witnessing the annual grid
battle between the two state
schools. The editor was called to
the college seat to attend a meeting
of directors of the state editorial
association.
Miss Edith Stallard, county nurse,
visited the Eight Mile school Mon
day, and our reporter states that
she gave them 100 percent perfect
posture. Miss Stallard stated that
this Improvement showed diligent
effort on the part of both teacher
and pupils.
Ladies of the Episcopal church
will hold their annual bazaar at the
Parish House on Saturday after
noon, tec. 6. Tea will be served
during the afternoon and supper at

The Methodist Aid society will
have a cooked food sale on Tues
day, Nov. 25, beginning at 2 o'clock

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ferguson,
with their two sons, departed on
Sunday for Gold Beach, where they
will enjoy a short visit with rela
tives and look after matters of bus
iness. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Boyer of Mon
ument who visited In Heppner last
week reported to Heppner friends
that they expected to move to Port
land In the near future.
At the Freezeout ranch of Hynd
brothers there is a heavy fall of
snow just beyond the timber line,
and looks like real winter had set
In. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Schaffer
were in town from the ranch on
Tuesday and report freezing weather.
The union Thanksgiving service
will be held in the Christian church
on Thursday morning at 10:30. Rev.
Glen P. White will deliver the ad
dress. Mr. W. B. Millson will favor
with a solo.

t Mr. and Mrs. Ed Burchell were In
the city on Monday to consult a
physician on behalf of Mr. Burchell,
who was suffering a sudden attack
of illness. Mr. Burchell had fallen
beside his car early in the morning
and it was feared that his trouble
would be serious. Prompt attention
by the physician has straightened
him out; in fact he seemed much
improved when they returned to
their Lexington home.
L. Carlson, extensive wheatraiser
of the Gooseberry section, was look
ing after business here on Tuesday.
The wheat out his way is all com
ing along fine, and the recent soak
ing rains will prove of much help in
its development and protection for
the winter.
Miss Margaret Driscoll, who vis
ited over the week end with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Driscoll
in this city, returned to Pendleton
on Tuesday. Miss Driscoll is a stu
dent nurse at St Anthony's hospital
in Pendleton.
E. F. Feldman, prominent farmer
of the lone country, was a visitor
in Heppner Tuesday, reporting an
abundance of moisture as the result
of recent storms, all of which is for
the good of growing grain and
grass.
