A Christmas program will be giv
en at the Hardman Union high
school, Thursday, December 20, at
7:30 p. m. The program will con
sist of two one-act comedies and
songs. One of the novel features
will be the story of the birth of
Christ, which will be presented by
shadow pictures by the Sunday
school class of the Rev. and Mrs.
Stanley Moore of Heppner. Admis
sion will be twenty-five cents for
adults and children free. All prof
Its realized from this entertain
ment and carnival will be for the
benefit of the school clubs. Every
body is Invited to come and share
our fun.
Mrs. B. H. Bleakman, Mr. and
Mrs. Jim McDaniel, Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. McDaniel and Mrs. Maud
Howell left for Spirit Lake, Idaho,
Wednesday, to attend the funeral
of the late William McDaniel.
Mrs. Mack, O. A. C. clothing spe
cialist, gave some interesting and
valuable advice on pattern altera
tion and remending of old clothing
here Thursday and Monday.
Neal Knighten delivered some of
his turkeys to Hermiston last
Thursday.
Mrs. Helen M. Walker, county
school superintendent was a visitor
at the Hardman school Tuesday.
Carey Hastings purchased a new
Chevrolet Monday, Dec. 10.

RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT.
Whereas, the Messenger of Death
has again visited our number, and
removed the name of our brother,
George C. Aiken, from the roll of
workmen, and taken our brother
from our midst to his eternal home;
and
Whereas, Brother Aiken was a
true and faithful Mason, and we
wish to make permanent record of
his fidelity;
Therefore, be it resolved, that we,
his brother craftsmen of Heppner
Lodge No. 69, A. F. & A. M., at this
time pause in sorrowful submission,
to recall his many virtues and to
drop a tear because of his depart
ure. We extend to the sorrowing wid
ow and children of our deceased
brother in their bereavement our
deepest sympathy.
Be it resolved that a copy of these
resolutions be sent to the family of
the deceased, that a copy be enter
ed on the records of the lodge, and

visited our Chapter and removed

Companion George C. Aiken, and
Whereas, Companion Aiken was
a true member of our Chapter, and
we wish to record in a permanent
manner his fidelity;
Therefore, be it resolved by Hepp
ner Chapter No. 26, R. A. M., that
we extend to the sorrowing widow
and children of our deceased com
panion our deepest sympathy in
this their hour of bereavement
Be it resolved that a copy of these
resolutions be spread upon the rec
ords of the Chapter, a copy be sent
to the family, and a copy given to
the Heppner Gazette Times for pub

MAIL PACKAGES EARLY.
In order that the work of the lo
cal postofHce may be reasonably ex
pedited, and that there will be no
last day rush to get packages Into
the mails, Postmaster Smead is
urging the Heppner community to
mail their Christmas packages ear
ly. He advises that all packages be
wrapped and tied securely, plainly
addressed, with the address of send
er or return card written or printed
in the upper left hand corner. Mail
them as early in the day as possi
ble, especially if they are to be in
sured, and all valuable packages
should be insured.
Mr. Smead further announces
that there will be no mail distribu
ted on Christmas day. This is in
accordance with the ruling of the
department, it being planned that if
possible all postofllce employes on
that day may enjoy the full holi
day and have their Christmas din
ners at home with their families.
Therefore, no packages or other
mail will be given out to anyone.
The Heppner office will be open late
the night of December 24 in order
that all may get their packages who
cannot get to the office before 6
o'clock p. in.
