Beauty, which capture! all thing's, set
me free. Dryden.
TO WASH OB NOT TO WASH
If I were to be asked what con
stitutes a beautiful skin, I should
answer instantly a healthy one.
Health is a primary law of Beauty,
and no skin can be healthy unless
it is hygienically clean. So the first
and universally Important role is
Regular and Thorough Cleansing.
It simply isn't possible to gauge
the number of letters that pour in
from time to time, asking me for
an expert opinion on the subject of
wahing the face. Women seem to
be swayed so easily from the good,
sane, common-sensible ways by
senational advertising or Incorrect
and inexpert opinions!
To settle all question of washing
once and for all, let me say that in
the thirty-odd years during which I
have acted as confidant and adviser
to some of the most beautiful wo
men in the world, I have not come
across one dozen Instances where
the skin was so fragile it would be
Injured by correct washing. Mind
you I say correct washing.
The use of a harsh or alkaline
soap will ruin any skin, eventually.
It is only a question of time as to
when the protesting tissues will re
bel. Complexion Soap, however, is
made of the finest oils, and there is
one kind in particular which is
based on that ancient beautifler,
the blended whites of fresh eggs.
Such soaps, specially created and
carefully perfected, will prove of
the greatest value to even the finest
skin.
In dealing with an excessively oily
skin or one marred by blackhheads,
whiteheads and pimples, the use of
a scientifically compounded face
wash, either a good, stimulating
blackhead or open pore paste, which
incidentally is excellent for refining
large pores, or special beauty grains
which, through their content and
consistency, get right down into the
pores, stimulating and cleansing
them.
By all means I advise you to
wash but use discretion in your
selection of a washing agent And
next week I'll tell you about the
cold cream method of cleansing.
will be held at the Alpine school
house on Saturday evening, Decem
ber 22. Everybody welcome.
Mrs. Ann aHeiny spent Friday
and Saturday with friends in Hepp
ner. While there she contracted a
cold and returned to her home In
Alpine. She recovered enough to
begin teaching again on Monday.
She teaches the grade department
of the Alpine school.
Church services were held at Pine
City last Sunday. Quite a few at
tended the service and all report
having enjoyed Mr. Bower's ser
mon. Next Sunday the services will
be held at Alpine. Everybody is
welcome to each and every service.
Mrs. C. Melville Is suffering from
an attack of the grippe.
Miss Mildred Schmidt who is em
ployed at the Thompson ranch at
Butter creek, spent the week with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie
Schmidt
C. W. Smith, county agent of
Heppner, attended the Farm Bu
reau meeting at Alpine on Satur
day evening. He gave an interest
ing talk on the extermination of
rabbits, and the turkey market for
the coming holiday season. He is
