Camp Fire Girls Present
Play, "Call of Wohelo"
The Camp Fire program was pre
sented in the school gymnasium the
night of March 20 to a very good
house. "The Call of Wohelo," a
three-act play, was the main feature
of the program. This play was the
Btory of a summer camp of Camp
Fire girls. Among the crowd of
girls was one new member, a decid
ed misfit to the general camp-fire
spirit Seemingly, all efforts had
been tried to win her over to a nor
mal, healthy way of living, until
finally under the spell of a certain
Indian maid, she saw the beauty of
nature and learns the Camp Fire
spirit This part was taken by
Francis White, who very ably por
trayed the part of Sylvia, the camp
misfit
The Indian maid, Wah-Wah-tay-see,
who finally wins Sylvia over,
was taken by Katherine Bisbee
Constance, the camp treasurer,
worries about the safety of the
money so much that finally she be
comes a sleep walker. This proves
to furnish the camp much excite
ment in the way of a ghost Jean
ette Turner, who took this part
showed herself to be much of a com
edian. She gave the audience many
a laugh in her sufferings with "lo
comotor ataxia," besides the thrills
when the girls watching for the
ghost find It to be just Constance.
Donna Brown, in the part of Mar
Ian, Daisy Albee as Dorothy, Ruth
Turner as Emily, Harriet Morgan
as Amy, showed themselves to be
true camp fire girls, carrying out
the camp fire ideals. They also
showed themselves to be very brave
in watching for the ghost and at
last finding it The Bluebird was
the junior member of the camp,
representing the little sister divis
ion of the camp fire organization.
This part was taken by Roberta
Thompson in a delightfully natural
manner.
Evelyn Swendig, the camp mother,
did herself proud in keeping the
busy camp in order. The guardian
of the girls, Elizabeth Phelps, gave
an idea of the work of the guar
dians of such groups. This play
showed the able coaching of Mrs.
Walter Moore.
The proceeds of the play are to
pay for the ceremonial outfits, the
last large expense of the Camp Fire
groups.
The Cheskamay group opened the
program by the Camp Fire walk
ing songs, in uniform.
The Aloha-hontas, under the di
rection of Mrs. Rodgers, gave two
folk dances, showing another side
of Camp Fire life.

BOY SCOUTS HAVE HIKE.
Last Saturday the Boy Scouts
took a hike up Willow creek. They
started at 5:30 and cooked break
fast after reaching camp. The camp
was made in a canyon about eight
miles up the creek from Heppner.
Some tests were passed during this
hike. Some boys passed the four
teen mile hike test and the mile in
twelve minutes test Others passed
part of their cooking test and one
passed the knife-and axe test Af
ter dinner the Scouts broke camp,
returning home having had an en
joyable day.
EPISCOPAL CHURCH.
Church school at 9:45 o'clock.
Morning prayer and sermon at
11:00. There will be special Palm
Sunday music.
Young Peoples Fellowship, 6:30.
Evening prayer and Lenten talk
at 7:30.
The Rt Rev. Wm, P. Remington,
Bishop of Eastern Oregon, will be
here for confirmation on Wednes
day, April 4th. The services will be
held at 7:30 in the evening. The
Bishop will preach and there will
be special music.
Emil Botts of Hardman received
a dislocated finger Sunday when hit
by a baseball. He was attended by
Dr. Johnston.
Mrs. J. L. Goodrich of lone, who
has been 111 at Morrow General hos
pital in this city for a time, has re
turned home.
Dr. McMurdo made a trip to lone
this morning to call on Mrs. Frank
Engleman who is quite ill with influenza.
Harold Conn who has been spend
ing several days in Portland on
business is expected home this eve
ning.
