Hay-fattened cat tle are desirable for beef in the north west, as in this way they are always ready for the early spring market when prices are the highest. It is not desirable to fallen stee.s on grain in the northwest, the Ore gon experiment station finds, as they do not bring large enough profits over steers fattened on hay to justify the expense. This is the time of year to guard against ewe paralysis, according to the experiment station. This trouble is due primarily to lack of exercise together with too much dry feed. It is avoided by feeding hay at night so the ewe will go into the pasture dur ing the day and get her required ex ercise. In this way hay supplements the pasture. The litter in laying houses on suc cessful Oregon poultry farms is changed whenever it becomes damp, whether that is once a week or once every two weeks. 1111111111111 Illllllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllllllllllllillllliiiiinili: I Land Sale I , 339 acres known as the Henriksen place, thre miles below s Cecil on Willow Creek in Morrow County, Oregon, will be 5 sold to the highest bidder on December 28, 1927.
