0 PAGE SIX HEPPNER GAZETTE TIMES, HEPPNER, OREGON, THURSDAY, DEC. 15, 1927. Corvallia, December 12, GRAIN. Domestic wheat and rye market and the Winnipeg and Buenos Aires wheat marketa were not quite so strong last week because of less ac tive export demand which reflected commercial stocks and stocks afloat 60,000,000 bushels more than a year ago and increasing movement of Ar gentine wheat. European quotations, however, remained generally Arm and light receipts of good muling wheat in some United States marketa caus ed higher premiums to be paid. Pa cific coast wheat markets were prac tically unchanged. Corn prices weak ened somewhat, but oats and barley were firm. Eastern barley markets went higher again on good export de mand. POTATOES. Carlot shipments of potatoes for the week ending Decem ber S this year ran ahead of last year about 50 cars in the United States. In the Pacific Northwest shipments were 899 car loads for the week this year against 747 the same period last year. The increased movement was due to Idaho shipments. The move ment from Oregon continued to run behind last year. The total move ment to December S from Oregon, Washington and Idaho this year is reported as 12,707 car loads compared to 14,970 last year at the same time, or 2,263 cars less. Considering re ported increases in production is ap pears that there are somewhat more than 20,000 carloads to be moved dur ing the remaining months of the ship ping season. A strong eastern demand is anticipated for western potatoes. WOOL. The wool market continued on a firm basis. LIVESTOCK. Cattle markets were generally steady with some widening of the spread between good grades and poorly finished stock. Hogs did not go so good again. . Fat lambs were scarcely steady in eastern mar kets, too many overweight and poorly finished kinds being received. A lar ger number of lambs are on feed in Colorado and Nebraska than reported a month ago. It is now estimated that the total number of lambs on feed in the counrty is larger than a year ago, although eastern corn belt states and the states west of the continental di vide will feed fewer lambs. At the same time the bargain offer of 3 years for $5.00 will be withdrawn. The reason for the adoption of our new policy has, we believe, been thoroughly explained. That it has met with approval is evidenced by the large number who have already responded. A considerable number still remain delinquent from whom we would like to hear. It is our desire to have a live subscription list composed of . bona fide' subscribers. In times past we have sent the paper in good faith, believing that acceptance meant willingness to pay. In some instances we have found this not to be the case. If you know yourself to be delinquent and want the paper to keep coming, may we hear from you before January 1 st?
