cal poet was inspired by the poem
"Rain" published last week on our
fdttoTinl pape, for the following was
found among our mail the first of the
week. As no name was sipned to the
effort we are unable to give credit to
the writer.
Listen to the rain, my son,
That means that we have won.
As tillers of the soil,
We'll pet pay for all our toil.
For the growing crop
There is gold in every drop,
And we'll go over the top
In a way that's hard to stop.
It don't take an oversize brain
To figure up our gain,
From the overplus of grain,
A result of this fine rain.
We'll have a new house on the hill,
That will give the folks a thrill.

Wool Growers Plan
To Hold Ram Sales
East Oregonian.
Pendleton will be the scene of a
ram sale Aug. 18 at which time rams
from different parts of Oregon and
Idaho will be on sale here. On the
evening of the sale, the Oregon Wool
Growers association will have a mid
summer meeting. A banquet will pre
ceed the meeting of the wool growers.
This will be the first time a sale of
this nature has been held in Pendle
ton, and as the ram is considered half
the flock, many are expected who
have not yet sent in their names.
Those who have rams to sell may send
their names to the Oregon Wool
Growers association, Pendleton.
The rams for the sale will be most
ly range rams. The Cunningham
Sheep company of Pilot Rock will
have Ramboulllet and Cross Breds.
Alfred Smith also of Pilot Rock has
signified his intention of bringing
Delaines. Those who have made
known that they will bring Hamp
shires are Carl Whitman, Wallowa;
W. H. Dobbin, La Grande; Mrs. Min
