on Sept. 16, Mr. Bower officiating.

BUTTER CREEK GIRL MARRIED.
Miss Mary Bartholomew of Butter
creek and Truman Sether of Glen-
dale, Oregon, were married at the
home of the bride a parents at But
ter creek Wednesday, September 15.
The ceremony was performd by Rev.
Dr. W. B. Reese of Milton. Miss Lila
Barth of The Dalles was bridesmaid
and Alva Adkisson of the same city
was best man. Miss Ruth Cooper of
The Dalles played the wedding march
end sang an appropriate selection.
Only relatives and close friends of
the couple were present at the wed
ding. Mr. and Mrs. Sether will take
a trip to southern Oregon after which
they will be at home at Blackrock,
Oregon.
Mrs. Sether is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Chas. H. Bartholomew of
Butter creek. She graduated from
high school at Pine City and in 1925
was graduated from University of
Oregon, where she majored in Eng
lish literature. For the past year
she has been teaching school at Haz
elton, Idaho. Mr. Sether is also a
member of the graduating class of
1925 at U. of 0., where he took the
commerce course. His home is at
Glendale, but he is now connected
with the Willamette Valley Lumber
Co. at Blackrock. Echo News.
The bride's two grandmothers, Mrs.
Mary A. Bartholomew of Heppner,
and Mrs. 0. F. Thomson of Butter
creek, were in attendance. Other
guests were Mr. and Mrs. Allan Thom
son, Mr. and Mrs. Sloan Thomson and
daughters Ruth Susan and Mary, Mrs.
Ralph Allen and children, Robert
Ralph, Jr., and Maxine, the Misses
Lida, Opal, Shirley and Helen Jar
man, Roy, Robert and Oscar Jarman,
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Simon ton and chil
dren, Glen, Virginia and Earl, Mrs.
Roy Neill and Alma Neill. Out of
town guests were Jonah Hatton, Mrs.
H. E. Bartholomew and Mary Ann
Bartholomew of Echo, Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Bartholomew and daughter Mar
garet of White Salmon, Wash., Lowell
Baken and John Mohr, of Stanfield,
Alva Atkinson and Miss Ruth Cooper
of The Dalles, Mr. and Mrs. Marion
Finch and daughter Betty Jean of
Olex, Emily Veazie of Pendleton, Dr.
and Mrs. Reece of Milton. The happy
couple received many nice presents.
Delicious refreshments of ice cream
and cake were served immediately af
ter the ceremony and fried chicken
and a bountiful supper of other good
eats were served at a late hour.
HARDMAN
J. F. M. Farrens will be moved to
his daughter's home, Mrs. Laura
Ward, in Lexington. He has been
with his son, G. A. Farrens, near
t Hardman for the past summer.
The Odd Fellows lodge of Hard
man gave a dance at their hall Sat
urday night, September 11. A large
crowd attended and it is reported
that a good time was had by all.
Robert Burnside underwent an
operation for appendicitis recently.
He was taken to Heppner from his
place of work on the road in the
mountains.
Finettie Jefferson and George Tillie
of Monument were visitors with
Eeulah Batty Sunday.
MORGAN
Miss Alta Pettyjohn of Portland
spent a few days last week visiting
relatives and friends.
Earl Wilson and Mr. Watson left
for Idaho Thursday to spend a few
days but expect to return here again
before leaving for California.
Mr. and Mrs. Fay Pettyjohn were
calling on Mr. and Mrs. Noah Petty
john. Miss Alta Pettyjohn spent Saturday
and Sunday visiting relatives at the
Junction.
Tom Small came Saturday to visit
a few days with Alfred Troedson.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Palmateer and
Mr. and Mrs. H. 0. Ely were calling
on Bob Lowe at the Morrow General
hospital in Heppner Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Halferty of
lone were calling on Mr. and Mrs. H.
0. Ely Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Bell of Los Angeles,
Calif., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fay
Pettyjohn.
Mr. and Mrs. H. 0. Ely spent Thurs
day with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hal
ferty. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Troedson, Miss
Parker and Mr. Small were the dinner
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Martin 3auern
fiend Sunday.
Miss Gladys Medlock spent Mon
day night at the Fay Pettyjonh home.
Mr. and Mrs. Fay Pettyjonh mo
tored to Pendleton Monday.
IRRIGON
Walter Warner and Earl Steward
are leaving this week end for Mon
mouth where they will enter the nor
mal school. A farwell party was giv
en in their honor by the Y. P. S. at
the church Tuesday evening. These
two boys take with them our best
wishes.
Quite a number of our folks at
tended the Round-Up Saturday and
all report a heap skookum good time.
A new feature in high school work
is a course in typing for juniors and
seniors.
Dr. Conder of Heppner conducted
the morning services at church Sun
day. Two of his sons accompanied
the song service with cornet and vio
lin. Miss Mabel Warner had as her
house guest over the week end her
cousin, Miss Hate of The Dalles.
Vern Jones and family returned
Sunday from a week's hunting trip
to the hills south of Heppner. Vern
got a fine buck with which he remm
bered his friends here.
Chas. Wicklander and wife were
Irrigon visitors from Boardman last
Wednesday evening.
Elra Lamoreaux, who is employed
at Arlington, spent the week end with
his family here.
Mrs. R. L. Wisdom entertained the
Community Club at her home on Wed
nesday afternoon this week.
Bessie Lamoreoux has returned
from a short visit with relatives at
Baker.
