to Celebrate at Heppner
THE SPIRIT OF 76" calls again as July 4th, 1926, the 150th
anniversary of our nation's birth, draws near. We are a favored
people, living in a free and prosperous country as a result of that
spirit which liberated our forefathers from autocracy and handed
down to us the right to "love, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
It is fitting then that we forget our trivial cares on Independence
Day, and let joy rule our souls.
Heppner Post No. 87, American Legion, has arranged a high
class Athletic Carnival to take place in Heppner July 3-4-5, that
will prove a dispeller of gloom for all who come, and will afford
means of genuine celebration. Heppner has a good ball team that
will be matched with the best teams in Eastern Oregon; a championship wrestling
match is scheduled, and other attractions of equally good order are on the pro-

Heppner, wish to commend the American Legion for its good work, and add our
