MORROW COUNTY'S OFFICIAL PAPER

THE AMERICAN PRESS ASSOCIATION
Vote Tomorrow.
AS THE calm that follows a
squall at sea oft'times reveals
a dismantled and disabled sailer
the sun will rise tomorrow on a
bunch of subdued, battle-scarred
office-seekers, who will have ex
pended their last spark of vitality
in swinging voters into line until
the last gentle zephyr has subsid
ed before the opening of the polls.
Then they will sit back nervously
awaiting the cleaning up of the
wreck, to see whom the survivors
will be that will be carried safely
on by the ship of state until the
next squall hits it in November.
Tomorrow men are to be chosen
from among whom in November
will be selected responsible rep
resentatives to take hold of reigns
of government. Among tnose
whose names appear on the bal
lot there may be some good, com
petent men who will earnestly take
care of the people's interests if
elected in the fall, while there
may be others who are incompe
tent and unworthy of holding high
office. By this time each elector
in the state of Oregon should have
thoroughly informed himself, and
have satisfied his own mind as to
the men he conscientiously be
lieves the ones best qualified
to represent the people of the state
in the offices sought, and with this
information and satisfaction he
should go to the polls tomorrow
and vote for these men. This is
the duty of every American citi
zen. Lamentably, there will no doubt
be many. who will vote blindly to
morrow, while others will not vote
at all because of neglect to in
form themselves properly. This is
a crime against good citizenship.
Too many times in the past have
incompetent candidates gone into
the fall election with but from 5
to 20 per cent sanction of the elec
torate of the state, thereby being
not the choice of the people at all.
The same thing may happen
again tomorrow if you stay away
from the polls. It is your duty as
it should be your most cherished
privilege to exercise your right of
franchise at the ballot. Be sure
to vote tomorrow no matter what
your political affiliations may be.

This bank is a service institution organized to meet finan
cial necessities of its depositors. The amount of its ser
vice to its dpeositors often depends on the bank balances
they maintain.
This bank must carefully protect the funds deposited
here by its depositors. Money can be loaned only when
we feel sure that it will be safe. When a depositor main
tains a reasonably large, steady balance, it js an indica
tion to us that he knows how to use money successfully.
It gives us a reason to believe that loans to him will be
safe. That is one reason why depositors who maintain
large balances get better service from their bank. They
are entitled to it.
And even more than that, a large balance provides
the depositor with sufficient funds to take care of emer
gencies and business opportunities that may arise.
