Bank at Lexington
W. S. Wharton, cashier of the Bank
of Heppner, was a passenger Tuesday
morning to Portland to purchase equip
ment for the establishing of a branch of
the Bank of Heppner at Lexington,
where be will place an up-to-date bur
glar proof safe, which will have an ad
ditional protection of a night and day
burglar policy. W. B. McAlister will
be the local manager, and will be placed
under surety bonds. Mr. Wharton ex
pects to have the branch bank open for
business by October 15.
