Peter O. Borg left Monday morniug
on an extended visit to bis old home in

to be away about four months.
Oscar Borg, who bas been attending a
horologies! Insiitute at Peora, Illinois,
tbe past 14 months, returned laat Thura
lsy evening, after having completed
thorough course in engraving, optic
and jewelery work in geueral. He Ii
samples of bis engraving on exhibition
at I' O. Borg's store, which la not ex
celled by the more skilled artists in that
line of work.
A number of the Heppner boys, who
attended the Knights of Pythias ball at
Iostt last Priday night, (peak very highly
of the manner in which they were en
tertalaad by the Knighta ol that town.
They report a good attendance and a
very, very pleasant time. Tbe manage
ment was the test, the music splendid
and all present seemed to thoroughly
enjoy themselves.

New Scoot Districts.
At the special session of the commis
sioner court held last Friday, the fol
lowing new district were organized.
District No. 10, located at Irrigorr in the
extreme northern part of the county;
district No. 13, located in the lower
Kight M le country, and No. 18, located
north of lone. There is already a
school at Irngon with 30 pupils, and
schools will be opened in the other
district some time during the year.

Cattle are very poor and some have
died, and it is likely there will be a
heavy loss before grass is sufficient to
build them up.

Will not Resume Publication.
A dispatch to the Oreonian from
Long Creek says: Kditor C. A. Coe,
whose newspaper was blown up by giant
powder not long since, will not resame
publication of his paper, the Long Creek
Ranger. It had been the purpose of Mr.
Cue to remove his preeses into a vacant
room in his da idling-house, and, with
the type he had managed to pick np
from the wiock he eipecte.l to continue
tois'ue the paper, regardless of op
position.
As soon as this determination became
known, however, the same Nemesis that
hud pursued Mr. Coe with such dodged
determination again Wrame active.
This time the unfortnnate man received
an anonymous letter in which he wss in
formed that the publication of the Han
ger must cease. Should he attempt to re
sume publication, both be and his family
would be blown off of the face of the
earth, lie was further told in this letter
that be must leave Long Creek before
Ppring, or suffer the consistences.
The letter is said by Mr. Coe to be most
vile and Insulting, and is signed: "We
