Nothing Doing
Sere!ary Mtl'ankle of the Amert
ran Institute of Actuaries told a
story at a banquet In Pes Moines.
"A welter In a night club," he said,
"complained bitterly to the cloakroom
gin. .
"The whole night through. he
moaned, 'I've had the hardest kind of
bard luck. Haven't made a cent on
the side, not a cent. I added In the
date on every blasted bill, but not
once did the trick work. Not once
the whole night through.'
"'You poor fish,' said the cloak
room girl 'no wonder your trick
didn't work. Don't you know that
all these people here are attending
the actuaries' convention?"
Word's Significance
The ending "worth" in the namea
of places signifies that the town
stands on the point of land made by
a bend of a river, or a tongue of lund
between two rivers.
OLD DOCTOR'S IDEA
IS BIG HELP TO
ri nrDi v Drnm r
r rn i rr r r i
In 18S3, old Dr. Caldwell mnde a
discovery for which elderly people
the world over prulse him today I
Years of practice convinced him
that muny people were endanger
ing their health by a careless
choice of laxatives. So lie bejun a
search for a harmless prescription
which would be thoroughly effec
tive, yet would neither gripe nor
form any habit. At last he found It
Over and over he wrote It, when '
he found people bilious, headachy,
out of sorts, weak or feverish ; with,
coated tongue, bad breath, no appe
tite or energy. It relieved the most
obstinate cases, and yet was gentle
with women, children and elderly
people.
Today the same famous, effective,
prescription, known as Dr. Cald
well's Syrup Tepsln, Is the world's
most popular laxative. It may be
obtained from any drugstore.
