School Notes
Cafeteria Supper
Last Friday night the lone
High School gave a Cafeteria Sup
per in conjunction with the car
which wan well supported by the
rommunity. Thanks to the Indus
triout housewives the supper wan
thoroughly successful and ita pro
weds amounted to lair mm.
All who were not there certainly
missed a most delicious meal.
The Siudent Body wishes to
give a note ol thanks to the moth
era who lent their assistance to
help make the supper a succes.
We wish also to express our ap
preciation to the people of the
community for their patronage.
Carnival
A varied selection of skits and
music filled the interval between
supper and the aide shows which
followed. The first of these wis
a fake orchestra composed of a
violin, cello, cornet, saxophone'
kazoos and a piano. In the next
number the Freshman presented
Mother Goose Land. The Seniors
performed "A Successful Opera
tion" for the benefit of the audi
ence; "Comin' Thru' the Kye",
a son if sn t dance accompanied bv
a kitchen orchestra, was the Jun
lora' feature; a mediciie cliow
was conducted by the Sophoinres,
sevnal persons afflicted with
various diseases beirg cured by
the"All Lyin' Salve" which was
later sold to the public. The cli
max of the stage stunts was "The
Spearmint Twins, Fern Kngel
man and Mildred Smlih w ho sang
"Do the Spearmint Lose its
Flavor on the Bedpost Over
night?" The festive spirit of the carni
val reached it pinical when tin
side shows and booths opened
for the evening. One could not
doubt the popularity of those fa' -famed
"nigger habits" if he
could catch one glimpse if the
strong men and daring Uiles who
tested their skill and prowess in
the art of downing the unwarv
"niiirer baoiea" from their home
stands. Be it known that many a
Herculean giant wos presented
with a toy balloen and inHny a'
duinly maid wan the recipient of

The roulette wheel and the

The classes held in addition, a

museum filled with priceless rel

charmer.
CONDON-IIEPPNER
HIGH SCHOOL GAME
A t.umber of our local hi'ith
school students witnessed a hard
fought gams between Condon
and Heppner high school tool
ball teams last Saturday. Tie
two teams were evenly matched
and fought hard from the start.
Heppneri quarter back, Harold
Gentry, m toe the first and only
touch down for Heppner in the
se ouu quarter. Condon w as un
abletoacore until the latt quar
ter when thev opened up a seriet
il passes and end runs which,
Cirried the ball across Heppner'sl
g ml line. The game thus ended '
with a six to six tie. It was a very
exciting game and offered many
t irilling moments.
