But many meteorologist bave not

cated measurements of Doctor Abbot,

phere, are not conclusive. The vari
ability which he reports, they suggest,
may all be due to unavoidable atmoe
pherlc sources of error.

Doctor Abbot now announces a
very direct teat that should settle tbe

to do the measuring from a point out
aide the atmosphere, yet It Is possible
to select times when the transparency
and other affecting qualities of tbe
