THANKSGIVING
God be praised for earthly won
ders, Trees to rest the birds in fliRlit.
Majesty of distant thunders,
. Stars to sparkle through the,
Moonlight on a summer ocet n,
Sunrise on the sea at da n,
Alt the black and white comn o
tion Of a magpie on the lawn.
God be thanked for light and
gloaming
And the rainbows after rain,
Iioads that lead you on to roam
ing. Roads that lead you home again
Home with ramblers in their
glory
And a door. that opens wide.
Love and laughter, song and
story
, By pleasant fireside.

ROADUSE
In the State of Washington
quite a controversy has arisen
between the motor bus and truck
companies and the railroad com
panies over a published state
nientof the motor bus people
that not a dollar is being raised
for state highway construction
by taxation.
A i we understand it the state
ment is erroneous if we take all
classes of toad into consideration
Great sums are raised by tax
ation for the construction and
maintenance of roads used by
motor transport.
However it seems to us th it
this dispute is another case ol
the pot calling the kettle b!a.-k
for the roads that are now com
plaining biterly of the cjxpetit-
lon of transportation curmiani
using the public highways were
themselves the deneficiaries of
exttnsive grants of public land?
We wonder if it may not be
true that tr ese public benefact
ious were not more than guffic-
ent to build and maintain tin
road beds of the trans continen
tal roads.

To the Editor,
Does the Bib'e
say, eat, drink and get married
today for tomorrow ye may die?
or does it fay eat, drink and be
merry today? Well it is all about
the same thing any way. 1 am a
shamed to say that 1 have rea l
the Bible but very little, but 1
often think that it must be a
wonderful book to stand the wear
and tear cf genrations after gen
erations of the deepest and wis
est men of the entire word1. Do c
not the Bible say that man u n
created but a few degrees below
an angel? If so , I think some ct
us have degenerated to beat lit :
world, for I have read that angt Is
are true, and pure and without
sin, I do not beleive in any mon-
' key business mixed up in human
ity, and it would be contradict
ing the bible to preach such stuff
Does not the bible say if- justice
and truth is crushed to the earth
it will arise again? Truth' is a
wonderful thing. Take figures
for example, they never lie B'.d
