The fire
upon tne neartn is

And there is stillness everywhere, j
While like the winged spirits j

A childish trebble breaks the

years and linger with loved ones

The very fact that the D. V.
C S. is meeting with such en
thusiasm on the part of the chil
dren shows that the type of re
ligous education is rilling a deep
need in their lives.
The first duty of religious ed
ucation is to bring children into

but a means to finding a richer
fuller meaning of life. True
Christianity must find its ex pres.
ion in daily iife and religious
education must give the know
ledge and the training to make
that most possible.
The next duty of religious ed
ucation is to provide wholesome
activity for the children. Activity
is a condition of normal growth
and development both mental and
spiritual and as long as thatactiv
ity is of the highest, moat con
tructire kind, normal minds and
normal spiritual attitudes are a
natural result. Not to say how'
ever that the things of the mind
and of the spirit do not need cul
tivating. Th business of any
education is to train and cultivate
the capacities one already has to
a higher note of efficiency.
The D.V.R.S. movement which
is meetginr with such hearty ap
proval among the children of the
nation demands the full support
of the older generation. In thil
respect lone has responded well
and with this support the schoo
1i hoped to continue as well as it
has begun.
